Watching this reminds me of my favorite job when I worked in an automotive garage.. everyone else hated it, but I loved running new brake and fuel lines .. there was something very satisfying about making small pipework line up and look good, even if it was on the underside of a car! Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦

Dear Sir, Thanks for the English lesson. Vapour, in English, is not the same thing as "vapor" in Portuguese. Whilst the white stuff you see in exhaust pipes is water vapour (suspended liquid water), it is not "vapor d'água," as the latter refers to invisible gaseous water. If it were not for your video i would not have known this translation subtlety. Thanks and cheers from Brazil!

I thought that the exhaust pipe should be larger due to the expansion of the steam, and the faster the engine can exhaust the steam, the better they run?

Not vital in this small size of Engine ........

Just good standard practice.

It's funny. I am building an Eric Whittle V8 aero engine, but I listen to Keith talk about steam engines which helps me focus.

I apologise if this a stupid question, 4 decades ago I was a refrigeration and air conditioning mechanic if possible my boss liked use to use hard drawn copper pipe, I notice that you often use soft drawn copper but every now and again you use hard drawn. My question is, is there any reason for your selection in the various locations, or is based more on convenience.

I always use the same type that is easy to bend. The exhaust pipes are mede from Brass in this video.

Are those all taper threaded pipes?
@keithappleton2 жыл бұрын
No they are not tapered.

@@keithappleton I didn't think they were, but they certainly do look that way. It must be an optical illusion of some sort. Thanks!

I was always led to believe that a steam engine was a 'HEAT' engine, not a 'GAS' engine, Correct me if I am mistaken! The PM Research threaded fittings will have an American Sellers thread which has an angle of 60 degrees as opposed to an English Whitworth tread form which has an angle of 55 degrees, hence the need to adapt them with an ME tap with Whitworth form threads.

A steam engine is a Gas Engine. Steam is an invisible gas.
