I put a strip of paper between the gears as I tighten them up, this sets the mesh gap very well.

Thank Keith, you have reminded me to lubricate the gear train in my similar mini lathe. Signed: owner of similar 'sticky out grey white hair' here too, I can't do a thing with it after I've washed it! :0)

Hair, what's that? I got my 8x16 minilathe a few days ago, thanks for the videos, they are really useful for a complete noob.

I have never seen this lathe advertised as having powered feed. I know for thread cutting it uses a half nut to pick up feed from the lead screw but I was not sure it was designed for frequent use for other cutting as otherwise they would have used the fact in the marketing blurb. (I own a WM180). I recently brought a Sieg SC4 as well as it is more powerful, larger and has power feed for both the X and Y axis.

Not much difference really is there between a screw cutting feed and a power traverse. It works just fine.

I get the impression that Warco stuff isn't the cheapest of Chinese imports, but they sorted to a decent standard.

I live by the saying that you are only as old as the Woman you feel. And my wife is significantly younger than me. 😁
