I am a Cisco Certified CCNP Wireless Engineer but I still find the CCNA labs Keith has put together really helpful for running through Wireless setups etc and blowing off any cobwebs, if you don't use it you lose it when it comes to configuring network devices. He uses a great learning tool in the shape of Packet Tracer and builds on it with a great teaching style and really in depth subject knowledge. Keith has an excellent attitude to teaching and learning and it really shows in his relaxed style and ability to explain subject matter in easy to understand terms, keep up the good work.

I had a boss at a previous job that exclusively called Cisco's Wireless Lan Controllers by the name Will-See or Will-C instead of just pronouncing W, L, C. Ever since then that's kinda how it's stuck in my head haha! Now people look at me crazy when I pronounce it that way. Thanks for the lesson, Keith

Hi Keith !. I got question about local AP. To communicate with WLC it should be connected to the same switch as WLC or this is no difference ? I'm about CAPWAP tunnel beteween WLC and Local AP.
@KeithBarker2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the question Kolezka Kolezki. The AP doesn't need to be in the same VLAN as the WLC. As long as they have reachability over IP to each other, that is enough to support the CAPWAP tunnel, and all the traffic they would send back and forth over that tunnel.

Can you explain the use of the management interface vlan id? What information does it tag? I understand that the SSIDs from the APs are connected to a dynamic interface and tagged that way.
@KeithBarker4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the question Nufael Nasir. The WLC in a real environment will be connected to a switch, via a trunk port on the switch. Which ever VLAN you want to used for the Managment interface, that is when it would be used, as the tag associated with the Mgmt interface. You would use different VLANs (other than the mgmt vlans) for the dynamic IPs and their VLANs associated with the WLANs (SSIDs).
