If you plan on playing shield bot zl then 4 p tenacity is his bis however its not even worth using his burst with a tenacity build as it will most likely be a dmg loss

hello hello, dedicated zhongli main since december 3rd 2020 here! to get the best of both worlds with him--both good burst + NA damage and solid shields--i suggest any 2 piece combination of petra/noblesse/tenacity, main stats hp / geo dmg / crit, and either black tassel or prototype starglitter for non-gacha weapons. with a 1 to 2 crit ratio and even just ~30k hp, he functions extremely well with both a beefed up burst, nice NA strings (remember to use his charge attack for mobility in battle!), and shield coverage. congrats on your CEO of geo, and thank you for the entertaining series!

I suggest running 4pc Tenacity of the Millelith on Zhongli because it buffs the team better, and considering you have xiao as the main dps this would work better than focusing on the burst. Also for the spiral abyss maybe put zhongli and xiao together because that combo is the best, the 2 of them probably can even solo(duo).

congrats on your zhongli! At 10:00 about your question about phys zhongli, he's 10000% NOT meta, but I run him anyway bcs, it's Way more fun and you only need 30-35k HP to get max uptime on your shield (with my testing, geo res, etc) but it also gives him his own personal dmg output if something goes horribly wrong lol Also because I find 40k hp shield zhongli boring as sin and, lbr, who doesn't want to watch the geo king kick the spear all the time! Once you get raiden, phys zhongli can work as a meme with her, rosie and yun jin since yun jin buffs autos and rosie+raiden does superconduct and if you get a nice pale flame set going for tenacity for his meta set, he'll get his own atk buff. Mine still has a good shield uptime and does good burst dmg with a phys build. (I just need to fix his crit ratio. you don't wanna know what it looks like) I plan to give him Homa on its next run if I get one for full Hybrid potential.

I would generally put Xiao with Yunjin and Zhongli for shields, geo resonance and Liyue, and Rosaria with Xiangling and Thoma for Melt. I don't think Xiao does much in terms of swirl because he doesn't scale into EM, he's just raw Anemo dmg, though I could be wrong. But if I am right on that than Melt is more valuable than Swirl by far because melt amplifies the dmg whereas swirl deals dmg based on EM and lvl alone as far as I know. As for what side goes where... putting Rosarias team where it's best and let Xiao deal with the rest in terms of reactions bcs Anemo beats all, kinda? I am not very familiar with what Yunjin is buffing exactly though, then it would be the question what's more reliable, Swirl and Yunjin buff or Pyro and Geo resonance.

congrats on the zhongli!!! idk what ar you are are at rn, but i feel like you should farm for a full hp tenacity set for zhongli first when you can farm for the 5* artifacts at ar45+. farming for xiao’s signature artifact set will be a pain but with a 40k ish hp on zhongli + tenacity buff, it would be easier and at least you can survive. zhongli has pretty low multipliers on his NA so i don’t recommend making him physical as utilising him for his shield is a much better (and easier) investment. plus, if you get good pale flame pieces you can give them to rosaria as she is a pretty good physical dps. (especially when you get raiden and she can trigger superconduct) you can also build some crit rate on zhongli even with tenacity, because his burst hits pretty good. i hit 32k crit with like 70%cd and 41k hp. its not much but it’s a nice bit of damage. there’s gonna be two more polearm users in 3.1, so i hope you can get a full two team with them. im thinking your teams can be: xiao/yunjin/?/zhongli (hyperxiao, geo resonance buff) candace/rosaria/xiangling/thoma (melt and vaporize, thoma as pure shielder) just some of my thoughts on the plans with these characters. but either way i just hope you continue to enjoy playing!

Hey, phys Zhongli is okay, but if you really need phys dmg it's better to take Rosaria, I also recomend using 4 piece tenacity of milellith it's good for shielder and burst dps. (curently I have following main stats hp%, geo dmg% and crit rate. I got him finally from 3.0 banner and it may not be really the best, but his shields are really strong and big rock does dmg. One more point, you have to get lots of hp% in sub stats as well as er). Oh and plus in tenacity domain you farm for him and part for phys rosa, so good luck ;)

The way i built my burst support zhongli is 2 piece noblesse/arhcaic, hp sands, geo goblet, crit irclet, and with the catch since i dont have raiden and its good to get his burst back fast. You shouldnt build him with triple hp%, i 36 star abyss and his shield never breaks when its 29k, dont go overboard with his health. Goodluck!

Okey this is going to be a long comment!! (TL:DR at the end) You mentioned your interest on building one more dps, and i wanted to analice and give my advice and opinion on the current roaster of characters you have and what are your options: -Regarding Xiao, he is a quite good character for this challenge. We have such a small roaster of characters and elements that him being one of the few units that does not need elemental reactions is a plus, he does his damage on his own. His cons are mainly that he has some energy problems because he can't generate his own particles during his bursts and the othen one is that he is so emo he can't stop self-harming so he needs deffensive supports. Luckily you just got Zhong li!! Zhong li, even tho he does not heal, he is a great shielder and would, for sure, be really helpful support for xiao; building him as a shieldbot would just mean to use your shield (which also shread elemental resistences) and swap and let Xiao be the on-field king he is, this is also a very forgiving and f2p friendly way to build zhong li; just stack up hp, ignore set bonuses for now and spend your resing on your main damage dealers and give zhong li the hp% scraps you get along the way, also, he has access to the black tassel, a 3* hp polearm that you already have and will be easy to lvl up, just a great cheap build he has. On the energy problems, if they get too hard, you have a favonius spear. They are the perfect weapon for a support to help an energy-hungry carry. Anyone can weild it and make use of it and with some practice on rotations, it will make such a difference having it to not having it. -On the other hand, i want to talk about Xiangling and Rosaria. When you talked about wanting to use a physical dps i started thinking and thinking,,,,, because you have no access to super conduct, how could you build it and be worth? The first option is zhong li, he shelds resistances and has a fast quick combo for cresent pike so he could be good at it by himself, but it would be such a waste to not use him as a shielder. Then i remembered how cresent is so good on him, on his AA sequence: it procs better on characters with a lot of little fast hits. AND then i remembered old early genshin f2p math, when xiangling was the best "free-characters only" dps comp because of her aa working really great with cresent pike, so, if we give her cresent pike and make her an on field dps, without super conduct reactions, how can we make the most out her being on-field the most? Rosaria. Because xiangling would be a physical dps in this case, we have the problem of her pyronado being useless dmg-wise, but it still is a great pyro applicator with no ICD on it. Rosaria on the other hand, she has also a great ult but with lower cryo application, but this perfect for us, it means Rosaria can be an off-field dps on a reverse melt comp. Her ult can reverse melt all of its hits in combo with pyronado. This team comp seems really fun with xiangling being not only an on-field -getting all particles-physical carry but also a pyro enabler for rosaria. Weapon and artifact-wise is also really f2p friendly, eventhough rosaria would prefer 4pc lava walker and dragon's bane, she can really work with the free polearm the catch or other energy er weapon and 2pc noblesse + 2pc anything is also great and on xiangling's part 2pc bloodstain and 2pc pale flame/+18atk% set works like a charm. NOTE: full pyro + er xiangling + full em rosaria would be better but 100 times more expenssive Full teamcomps i would recomend for these 2 teams would be -Xiao + zhongli + yun yin + xiangling (for lithic's passive) -Xiangling + Rosaria + yun yin + Thoma -(and honestly this one is great too) Xiao + zhongli + xiangling + rosaria Finally i want to talk about upcoming new characters: Cyno and Candace (can someone explain me why her name is so funny) I won't talk about leaks so i can't barely talk about Candace but on cyno, i have the feeling that he will be a very elemental reaction focused character, as mihoyo is trying to make more of those on sumeru, probably will even be perfect for dendro reactions so i am afraid he won't be game-chaging on this challenge if that is the case, or maybe he will be reaction focused but will work with Candace, who knows! TL:DR: Xiao + zhong li are such a great pair with one being dps and the other being full shield bot and both being quite f2p friendly together and Xiangling + Rosaria seems such a great pair with the resorurces he can get so far with xiangling being a physical on field carry and pyro enabler for a reverse melt rosaria. OKEY that's all i think?? sorry for being a nerd but some how i hyper fixated on this at 4 in the morning after a night out and now it's almost 5 AM and i don't waNT TO CONTINUE WRITING I REGREAT THIS SO MUCH NOW AND I AM MISSING THINGS I THINK??? nevermind!!! Such a great series, i was binge watching it for an hour before i started this so thx for making my night this great!!!

yun jin + phys rosaria are a good option for a second dps team, since yun jin only buffs normal atk dmg, making her,,, not the best for xiao. or a melt team with rosaria and xiangling. thoma is probably the worst shielder in the game but he should still be decent enough when more built up, so you'll have him for whichever team you prefer. you may have more options when candace and cyno come to the game so that should help (cyno will probably be an electro main dps or sub dps due to new dendro reactions like hyperbloom and catalyse, and candace looks to be some kind of support character due to the shield) overall the buff from the polearm will not be that important late game, not rlly worth sacrificing a better team comp for, especially if you manage to save up and get the blackcliff polearm from the shop instead. still, if u wanna play phys zhongli that's your perogative! If you're going to be building any phys dps, the most optimal domain for you is the one with totm and pale flame, since both of those sets can be used for several characters (zhongli, rosaria, thoma) srry for the essay lmao

I got hybrid zhongli kinda more into physical he got 4-10k normal, pillar 4.8k, Burst 62k (no buff at all), with Yun Jin buff plus double geo team bonus only his normal is 10k-17k, his stat is 31k+ HP 2.1k+ atk crit ratio 70+/210+ lv 90 triple crown. Ayato artifact 4set (hp, physical dmg bonus, crit rate). Weapon is stuff of homeless. Definitely not meta but I managed to 36star abyss with him and Xiao as main dps so I think good enough. As for the shield I think it's strong enough, as long as u dodge a bit.

Build physical xiao you have to level his normal attacks anyway for his burst and once his atk and cr/cd stats are good you'll still do a lot of dmg with his burst. I temporally built him physical for the Raiden fight and ended up leaving him with that build for a while because it was so good.

So, it may be a little difficult for you since there are no Dendro polearm, catalyst or claymore users, and unless there's a secret 4th new character in 3.1 aside from the three their twitter already revealed (three new characters is already a pretty high amount), there's no new dendro character. So yeah

There are a few ways to activate dendro on stuff tho. Unlike electrograna, dendrograna is actually usable for activating monuments, this is important because the usual anemo infusion tactic wont work since Dendro cannot be swirled. You could probably also use bloom, or if you really have to, bungeon, but Idk if those work. I know the Dendrograna do because I literally used it for a puzzle (Sure I could've used Collei, but I am lazy). They can also do dendro damage, but I don't think it's very powerful, it's like 1.1k or something and it's reallt hard to hit enemies with the dendrograna

Well I got Zhongli after losing 50/50 and after hard pity, but at his previous rerun begining at second phase with Lantern Rite festival event, but I got guaranteed Ganyu after 30 pulls, because I had built pity, but before Zhongli, well it was my 1st time I was pulling both from double rerun banner, but was once in January at begining this year. go for Phys Zhongli. He only needs 30k hp for a sheild. You Probally can get away with less. But Yunjin works so well with Phys Zhongli. And It would be nice to see Zhongli not condemed as a sheild bot. totally not biased Zhongli main here

4 piece tenacity is probably better than emblem for zhongli. It will buff the rest of the team as well.
