Thanks Tristian for the video. I was stationed there from 1987-1990. Lots of memories. George, who was the manager of the Victory Club, told us that Kelley Barracks used to house SS troops when he was a child during WW II. Hoping to make a trip to Darmstadt before all is knocked down. Take care.

I worked at Kelly Barracks civil service as a clerk with 15th Ordnance ammo inspectors. We'd walk across the street and bring back Semmeln (Bröttchen) and Aufschnitt from Kaufland ( ? ) for our lunch. I had heard it's being torn down and apartments will be there. With WWIII pending barracks and offices may still be needed ?! It was good living in Germany. Wish I could have stayed on. Thank you for this video

I was with the 15th ordinance battalion at Kelly too. 1979 Miss those days.

I was stationed there in 1981 till 1983....These barracks was used by the SS before and during WWII..Now it was our turn to use them..I was in the 596th Maint Co. It was an awesome time. The mark rate was 2.50 to one dollar. Times was good then we were like rich over there...I did a lot of traveling and a lot of partying while I was there...GOOD TIMES fond memories. I miss that era in my life. It is a shame they are tearing them down they are historical buildings. After the Berlin wall came down 6 years after I left there the military presence in Germany was not needed anymore. Life does change and move on.

Es sieht irgendwie aus wie in Darmstadt. Schöne Aufnahmen von unbezahlbarem Wohnraum. Ist das der Grund weshalb man ihn abreißt? Wird die Wohnraumknappheit so nicht künstlich verstärkt? Oder schafft man hier Fläche zur Erweiterung des Westwalds? Ich bin gespannt auf das Video, das dereinst folgt.
