Thank you so much for this quick and easy explanation! You explain way better than my professors do

5:02 the step here was a little quick, since you skipped writing it down (not enough space on that board in general). We now start from top to bottom 2*A + 7? Wait, why didn't we do anything with the reminder 8 and 3?

Thanks so much!!! ♥ ..You saved my life .. literally .. I have a test today !
After 9, it goes into letters, as in a,b,c,d,e,f etc how far do the letter go; numerically you begin at 0 and to keep things in a range can't go up to 1000, but there are only 26 letters in an alphabet ? You lost me on how to do the calculation, for example, how do I calculate in terms of RGB, lets say; 120,56,34 which is a brown color, how do you calculate this to Hex ?
@kelleymathandstats9 жыл бұрын
+The Christopher In base 16 (hexadecimal), allowable digits are 0 - F (where F represents 15). To convert from RGB to hex, you will convert each rgb value to hex, then concatenate your new hex strings. Let’s use your example: rgb(120,56,34). To convert 120, 120/16 = 7 R8, 7/16 = 0 R7, so the first hex string is 78. Now we will convert 56: 56/16 = 3 R8, 3/16 = 0 R3. The second hex string is 38. Finally, 34 in hex is 34/16 = 2 R2, 2/16 = 0 R2. The last string is 22. The hexadecimal value is #783822. Note that we did not use any letters because none of our remainders exceeded 9. I hope this helps!

+Kelley's Math & Stats Help Base 16 only goes from 0 - F or up to (15) ? As we both know; 120/16 = 7.5. Where did you get 7 R8 ?
@kelleymathandstats9 жыл бұрын
+The Christopher It is true that 120 divided by 16 is 7.5. That is the same as saying 7 with a remainder of 8 because 16 times 7 equals 112 with 8 left over and 8 is half of 16. Base 16 goes from 0 to 15 but once we get past 9, we substitute letters for digits: 10 = A, 11 = B, 12 = C, 13 = D, 14 = E, and 15 = F. I hope this aids your understanding.

+Kelley's Math & Stats Help I assume, 16=G, 17=H etc etc ?

+Kelley's Math & Stats Help 7 R8 so you drop the .5 ? If the number was 96 you would simply have for the first hex 66 ?

is there another way to make the computation shorter ?
@kelleymathandstats9 жыл бұрын
+dranel alivio Thanks for your question. The computation itself isn't very time consuming once you've mastered the process. My example is longer because I am giving background information and working out each step in detail. The process really shouldn't take any longer than a multiplication problem in Base 10.
