This is a hymn I wrote a long, long time ago. I'm posting it for Easter, but my hope has always been that this could be a song for everybody. It's a cry for grace. For freedom from fear. It's a prayer for peace. I've included the words below so we can sing together.
(Please excuse the out of tune piano. And special thanks to Franny - who was right beside me and didn't cry - you can hear her little yelp in the 3rd verse if you listen closely :)
Love to you all!
BREAK US
As I sit in the stillness of the darkest night
And I listen to the thoughts of my heart
This heart that is broken and the wounds that reopen
Break us, by the power of your grace
Break us, by the power of your grace, O Lord
Won't' you break us by the power of your grace
Break us, remake us, don't let the sorrow take us
Break us, by the power of your grace
When I stand in the presence of a holy God
And I flee, and I cover my face
This heart, hard with shame, yet you still call my name
You break me by the power of your grace
CHORUS
When I leave this world and I'm homeward bound
To a heaven and earth that's remade
This world full of sorrow will be glory tomorrow
You'll remake it by the power of Your grace
CHORUS

As a minister, I am so grateful for this prayer. I believe that in every person's spirit, there is a longing for unmerited and unlimited grace. As a Christian, I find God constantly reaching to me in that grace. As a man, I am humbled and comforted by your prayer. Because I, like so many I've known, do not always sense that reaching. This spiritual prayer does not preach a religion, does not attempt to convert, but in simplicity and purity, so expressively captures human longing and assures us that grace abounds, though not always apparent. At the phrase "you still call my name", I always weep cleansing tears. If I were still a pastor in the organized "church", I would use this prayer each Sunday. Thank you so much for the crystal clear truth and your unembellished statement of it.

Ever since we first heard it back in 2006 (I'd guess it was in Austin at M.& D. s house), it's been the entire family's favourite one of your songs! Thanks for that beautiful hymn! Be blessed :-)
