she could win all the tony's for best leading actress in a musical for the next 40 years, i'd still be mad she didn't win the one for bridges

+Naïli Cheballah As much as I loved her in Bridges Jessie Mueller was absolutely phenomenal as Carole King. If you didn't know better you would think Carole King was actually singing! She would have been robbed if they gave it to Kelli instead. Tough year everyone deserved it!

as much as the orchestrations are absolutely stunning, acapella really gives kelli the time she needs to just tell this woman’s story. it’s so gorgeous.

Unbelievable. This is like a master class in everything to do right as a singer. She should have won the Tony for Bridges, but so glad she got the recognition she deserved this year. She's my favorite female Broadway performer, no question.

For me Kelli is the best of today Broadway sopranos.Like the great Barbara Cook, who influeced her, she sings beautifully a capella her The bridges of Madison County solo. Its why she will sing at the Metropolitan Opera in december.

Drives me crazy that this show had such a short run on Broadway By far the best combination of leads and the music is so enjoyable, memorable, singable. Instead we are stuck with Margaritaville and Spongebob...Broadway is doomed.

Absolutely incredible. The people in that room should have been on their feet! I sure would have been. I was so lucky to get to watch her in the King and I for which she FINALLY won her well deserved Tony, but I still think she should have won for Bridges.

While the orchestrations are beautiful, I think it really adds another layer hearing it a capella. Kelli's voice is so smooth and beautiful and the emotion really comes through. Thank you to Kelli for giving us the gift of your amazing talent.

After 54 Below reopened, I saw Sierra Boggess and Kelli's Diamond performance. I took multiple videos of Sierra, but they shut me down after the first set by Kelli. Kelli sang "I'm Going to Go Back There Someday," from the Muppet Movie and Sondheim's "What More Do I Need." Although it's the only video of that Diamond appearance I've seen, it's been ice cold, with only 1.6K views and five comments. Sierra sang one of her trademarks, "Wishing You Were Here Again," and three lovely standards, "Smoke Get in Your Eyes," "You'll Never Know," and "The Nearness of You,." These have 9.5K to 16K views. Not a great amount for any of them, but I would just expect Kelli to at least keep up with Sierra, who picks songs that can't really miss. I was thinking that may be Kelli's eclectic song selections are made to please herself more than the audience. Except for her Carnegie Hall performance with the great supporting cast, the concerts of hers that I have seen do not get a tremendous response.

There's a boat that leaves Napoli Every Thursday in the morning And a nervous bride can share a bed with her soldier from the States For a week the ocean carries them Over lost and churning water And they land in Royal Harbour And in Pennsylvania Station The county fair, the football game Where they board a train that slices Like a scythe through the fields of America This is Albany This is Buffalo This is Cleveland This is South Bay This is Chicago This is Osceola Station Where a track will take them deeper into Iowa To winter sun And three hundred acres Waiting to be tamed And blade of grass By blade of grass And ear of corn By ear of corn And bale of hay By day by day They build themselves a home And day by day And year by year From boy to man From calf to steer What's lost from there may not grow here But comes the sun Look what they've done They've built themselves a home At 21 a girl begins To grasp the world and how it spins She grabs a box of safety pins And builds herself a home And home is safe And home is fair The porch, the bath The kitchen chair The sharp and unfamiliar air That blow by blow She comes to know To build herself a home With a son And a daughter And the million miles between The fire she used to set The hearts she used to break The lies she used to tell And the woman she grew up to be I learn to speak I learn to sew I learn to let the longings go The tractor wheel, the foot of snow I build myself a home I change my words I change my name The fields go dry The horse goes lame The county fair, the football game For 18 years It stays the same For 18 years I'm proud I came And built myself A home

FRANCESCA There's a boat that leaves from Napoli Every Thursday in the morning And a nervous bride can share a bed With her soldier from the States. For a week, the ocean carries them Over lost and churning water And they land in New York Harbor Then to Pennsylvania Station Where they board a train That slices like a scythe Through the fields of America. This is Albany This is Buffalo This is Cleveland This is South bend This is Chicago This is Osceola Station Where a truck will take them Deeper into Iowa To Winterset And three hundred Acres Waiting to be tamed. And blade of grass by blade of grass And ear of corn by ear of corn And bale of Hay by day by day They build themselves a home. And day by day and year by year, From boy to man, from calf to steer, What's lost from there may not grow here, But comes the sun, Look what they've done: They've built themselves a home. At Twenty-one, a girl begins To grasp the world and how it spins. She grabs a box of safety pins And builds herself a home. And home is safe, and home is fair, The porch, the bath, the kitchen chair, The sharp and unfamiliar air That blow by blow She comes to know To build herself a home. With a son. And a daughter. And a million miles between The fires she used to set The hearts she used to break The lies she used to tell And the woman she grew up to be. COMPANY Aaah… Aaah… Aaah… Aaah… Aaah… Aaah… FRANCESCA I learn to speak, I learn to sew, I learn to let the longing go, The tractor wheel, a food of snow, I build myself a home. I change my words, I change my name, The fields go dry, the horse goes lame, The county fair, the football game, For eighteen years, It stays the same, For eighteen years, I'm proud I came And built myself a home.
