Hi Diane, I've tried both formulas and I honestly can't tell much of a difference in application, wear time, or overall finish. Removal is the same as regular polish. I would only buy Infinite Shine if there were a color not offered in the regular formula that I just couldn't live without. I don't think the IS line is worth the extra couple of dollars -- I feel like the whole line is actually a manipulative marketing strategy. At least in the Essie Gel Couture line, you used to get a better brush, but now that Essie has changed over to wide brushes for all new releases, even that doesn't hold.

The classic Pearl collection really reminds me of when I first got into nail polish way back in the 80's !! Ya I am aging myself ;) Shellmates Forever is like the colour I always wore. I really want to get the Love or Lust-er one ! It looks gorgeous ! I have the Inifinite Shine Top Coat and it does have a high shine and seems to last longer than some of my regular top coats.

I like how they look in the bottle but not as much once you apply them. Definitely not a fan of the streaky pearl ones. I’ve had a few of those and just never wear them. The infinite shine ones are pretty with the shimmer but just not something I can see myself reaching for. But thanks for your review! 💜

So for the Infinite Shine polishes. I remember a long while ago people were having problems with it. And I had read a blogpost that said a lot of people were painting their nails at nighttime. And these polishes are better when they have access to natural UV light. And recommend painting them during the day to help with that. It also stated that’s what made it better throughout the days as well because everyday it gets exposed to the UV light. Really loved the softness of both collections. It’s almost fairytale like. Would be so amazing for outdoor weddings. 😻

Infinite shine has a glassier finish. Little better wear but if you use Infinity Shine top coat on a standard polish you can cheat your way to a longer wear also. It’s just not a quick dry top coat. Love this line in both versions though. Your swatch/reviews are the best, Very comprehensive and honest.

The "two peas in a pod" shade reminded me of a nail polish I had in the mid 00's. It was from the brand love my nails (do they still exist?) And it was very similar only it was bluish rather than green.

Did You See Those Mussels reminds me so much of my first ever blue nail polish which was a Wet-n-Wild polish in the early 80s. I want it and Olive for Pearls. I am SO glad you're going to do a comparison between OPI's regular polish and their Infinite Shine collection! 'Cause I think there's some kind of conspiracy going on. The polishes are exactly the same (in my opinion)! So I have a question about your base coat - because you don't field enough questions already. :/ But I've been wondering this for a while, so I figured I'd just ask. I use OPI's natural nail base coat, because, well, I'm cheap and I can get it for $4. I bought a bottle of Cuccio's base coat from HB Beauty Bar (and I used your code - thank you so much for the discount!) because I figured you use it a great deal, so it must be awesome. But other than the brush being a little wider than OPI's, I can't really tell a difference between the two. Does it maybe prevent staining better? 'Cause my nails are practically orange at this point, so I'm thinking OPI's base coat might not be so great at protecting the nail from staining. I hope you're feeling tons better. You look great! 🙂

TBH, I've never used OPI's natural nail base coat, so I can't say for comparison, but in general I feel most base coats perform in a similar way. My preference is a slightly thicker base coat that dries quickly. I find those are the best for preventing staining!

The only thick base coat I've found is from Cuccio, so maybe I should just stock up on Cuccio's base coat once we receive our $1200 "relief checks." Those checks can come any time now, by the way. I saw High Society from Cirque Colors on one of your swatch and review videos and HAD to have it. And, of course, I needed a backup bottle of Trompe L'oeil because it's limited edition and I'm obsessed with that color! Somehow it makes my nails look longer. I don't know what kind of sorcery Cirque used to make that happen! And then I wanted to get free shipping, so what other choice did I have besides buying three more polishes? No choice. Obvs. Wow, I'm babbling. It's like I'm cooped up in a house with my boyfriend who works a ton and his teenage son who doesn't like to talk to adults because, you know, adults are stupid and I don't talk much to anyone from the outside world! I'm sure no one else can relate to that dilemma... Anyway, I'll shut up now. Please feel better and enjoy being obsessed with Skyrim! 🙂

I have two Infinite Shine and the rest are the Regular OPI and the only difference I have noticed is that the Infinite Shine is shinier but that is about it. I would love to see your wear test. I am more a China Glaze girl. Great review.

I've had the same problem, even after watching Kelli's video on how to prevent bubbles from a couple of years ago. Maybe the bubbles just show up more on this type of formula?? I don't know. I bought three of these pearl finish polishes, and plan to try sponging on the last coat to see if that helps with both bubbles and brushstrokes.

I’ve never tried the infinite shine polishes but with some other brands gel like lines I almost find the formula worse. I’ve noticed a lot of them take like 5 times longer to dry and and don’t layer well. It’s just a pet peeve of mine so I usuallystay away from gel like collections

OMG, those pearls. That takes me right back to the first time I ever painted my own nails. I was 3-4 grade and snuck my moms polish out of the fridge. (Yes, our mom's used to keep polish in the fridge so it wouldn't go bad? Strange, I know.). She had a whole 2 colors, pink pearl and peach pearl. I did "nail art" and alternated a color on each nail.

I use both, but I love how the infinite shine dries to a gel-like finish in 15 minutes (it cures in natural light, but lamp light is fine) and lasts a couple of days longer (3-5 vs 5-7) on me. I have start shifting my OPI purchases to mostly the infinite shine for that reason. I still buy the regular line when the color I want isn’t available in the infinite shine.

When I say lamp, I just mean a makeup lamp and not my gel lamp. In the instructions, it says the polish cures in natural light. If I don’t have natural light because I am painting my nails at night, I use my makeup lamp to mimic natural light. Hope the clears up the confusion about the lamp.😊💜

Kristi Odom I have a feeling that's just a bit of a marketing gimmick, to be honest . If the polishes cured by light (natural or otherwise!) then it would go through the bottles, since they are clear glass, and harden them before you could use them. Mine sit out in natural and lamp light and haven't cured!

Only the top coat (in the black bottle) is light-reactivate. At least, that’s what it says on the OPI website. I haven’t tried the color with any other base or top coat but the infinite shine line. I will try it with a regular base and top coat and let you know. 😊💜

I have used both the original OPI Polish and the Infinite Shine polishes. I might be the only one, but I actually found that the original formula looks better and lasts longer on my nails. No clue why this is, but haven't bought the Infinite Shine formula in ages. I'll stick to the less expensive (and longer lasting) original formula.

I have not really noticed any differences between the regular OPI and the infinite shine line, but I also don't have any two of the same colour in both lines. What test I'd truly like to see is the exact same shade tested in each type, because the formulas between each unique colour are always different, so I am not sure comparing two different colours is fair. It'd be interesting to see the opacity, formula, and wear differences in general among "identical" polishes.

I am really happy that you did both but I think I am liking the infinite shine better just because like my first polishes were pearl finishes and I wore those for years. I don't hate them, but I'm not a fan of the pearlized finish for the most part. I do love the purples though, I would easily wear those. :) Thanks Kelli. My least fav would be the last one with the intense green shimmer. Would love to see the results of the wear test! I've been curious for a while too!

I only have one OPI Infinite Shine and I got it from Marshall’s. It was a pretty pink called Japanese Rose Garden. I’ve only used it for a pedicure so far, so I can’t attest to the wear. I’d love to see a comparison video! 💕

Thanks so much for the video! I'm so glad I didn't like any of the colors, since I've been spending so much on Polish Pickup polishes!😅 I definitely prefer the Infinite Shine collection, but I would NEVER pay $13 for a bottle of OPI, unless it was seriously unique or rare. I only pay that type of money for indie polishes. Also, I don't like how they split the collections. I wonder why they did that and if they will come out with the other colors for the other collections. I'm REALLY looking forward to a comparison between the two types of OPI. I do own a few of the Infinite Shine and I honestly haven't noticed much of a difference, besides the price. Thanks again and stay well! 💜

Definitely getting the “Pearl-ple” one and considering the pearls in a pod one. I LOVE pearl finishes, I guess I’m old school, and OPI does them best. Considering the olive for pearls because I love the color but I have longish nails and I think I’ll be really unhappy with how sheer it is. Please please do a wear test/appearance test between infinite shine and regular!!! 💜💜💜

I love pearl finishes too!! They're a classic finish, Ill never get tired of them 😄 and yeah I think you might find Olive too sheet for yourself because I still had a lot of visible nail line with two coats!!

Love shimmers. But, I do prefer the in Infinite Shine line in all of their collections only because I am a Nail Tech and the majority of what I use is gel and gel polish, as well as some acrylics.

@@KelliMarissa not quite as well, especially if your hands are in water without wearing gloves, or sometimes you just have those limited number of clients that are really hard on their hands. But, I also have clients that are strictly lacquer, they don't want their nails scuffed or buffed in any way shape or form, as they think it is damaging to the nail plate.... I gave up arguing that one a long time ago as they are the ones paying for what they want. But, on that note, if you follow your Tech's instructions, you for sure could get just about 2-3 weeks wear on the Infinite Shine.

Have you tried sponging on the second layer of the polish? Thinking that maybe that'll solve the streaks in the polish?

I haven't, but I personally love the pearl/streaky finish, that's why I like pearl shades haha so I wouldn't consider it a problem!

I usually don't gravitate toward the infinite shine line because of the price and I agree its not different enough for me to pay more but I kinda like colors in infinite shine for this collection.

I ordered the mini set cause I wasn't sure about the finish, and was shocked at how much I liked them, and I don't really care for pink, but they all looked good on me. They aren't as streaky as my older pearl polishes. My fav was TPIAP. I ordered the larger bottles. I'm undecided on the infinite shines though.
