I had this 45. We sent away for it from a box of cereal. Many years later I even found a CD which contained all of the tracks plus songs from the movie. Great memories watching the show on Sat mornings.

Paul Simon sued Sid and Marty Krofft over the main theme.

The show’s theme song, titled "H.R. Pufnstuf", was written by Les Szarvas but is also credited to Paul Simon. Simon's credit was added when he successfully sued The Kroffts, claiming that the theme too closely mimicked his song "The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy)".

I know, about which I disagree; there are much closer similarities which didn't result in a lawsuit; look at Radiohead's 'Creep' and that Hollies song. The fact is that the chords used in both songs weren't overtly complex and could have easily been developed in insularity.
