I really don’t understand what her being in a contract had to do with her music. She was writing songs from her debut album. She wasn’t proud of anything until after she got out of her contract? Really?
@visualhatefvck5 жыл бұрын
No, it's about the style of the music. Of course the American idol contract wanted her to do mainstream radio pop music, you can hear those influences on every record till now, now meaning of life she can finally go with much more soulful areatha Franklin kinda music. She's now free and can sing whatever she wants, and you can hear this on the new record. It's different and more about her vocal qualities and soulfullnes. She still likes her old hits...
@LololaSweet5 жыл бұрын
Just that under the contract she felt restrained, I think. Other people had input and oversight that isn't needed now.
@Nazaba095 жыл бұрын
visualhatefuck I don’t think that’s true because her debut album was very Aretha Franklin soul type and she has said she doesn’t like it because ‘I sounded like a big black woman and I didn’t know what I was doing’. Unless she’s lying.
@lkaufman10625 жыл бұрын
That’s not what she said at all

Uhh yeah.. That's how it works. Your label tells you what they want to hear, and you do what you can to please them. Whereas when you're established, popular, etc, you get more freedoms.
