I watch this video at least once a week. Everything about this performance is pure gold, her amazing voice, facial expressions and her appreciation for the band all make her the best American Idol ever! I would love to see her on Broadway in a major musical. She has even said that is something she would really love to do. Kelly, you are the queen.

I love this performance. Everything about it was perfect...her voice, her facial expressions, her dress, her hair. This is Kelly's American Idol performance I most vividly remember. American Idol was lucky to have her as a contestant that first year. Without her (and Simon) this show never would have made it past the first season.

She is a phenomenal performer. She makes this performance look so effortless and takes us back to a different time with all the tiny little movements she makes. I love that the stage is so small. She commanded this entire performance without taking one step away from the mic. It just shows that in the end, all the drama and flair the new Idol is going for is useless if they can't find a performer who can really command the stage.

Simon has always said that they were incredibly lucky to find her because she gave the show credibility. In retrospect, probably the best singer in popular music since Linda Ronstadt (and that includes Houston, Carey, Dion, et al.). There is nothing her voice could not do with the distinctive beauty it still has to this day, although the voice is heavier, warmer, and richer today.
