My impression was she was sending a message to the network, more than to Michael. When it was over she said she was afraid the show was in danger due to the way it was handled, and wanted reassurance from ABC that it wasn’t.

She’s their employee, and absolutely nobody owes her a heads up, reassurance, or consultation of any kind. Does the average person demand an explanation from upper management or their coworkers when similar instances occur? No. People get pink slips without warning every day in this country. At least she has enough money to be ok for awhile without a job, unlike most of the rest of us. She should consider herself blessed. To not show up to work for days in some kind of mock protest was nothing but unprofessional and childish.
