The quality, the dynamics and the timing musicality/feel matters!! Celine did it each time to perfection. Now Kelly had a gorgeous G#5 but what made this NOTE (actually the collection of notes) special was the chesty quality + quick and precise descending run right after...which ain't easy and singers (good ones) just hit/sustain the high note and leave it there without finishing it off with the clean RUN. But Celine did it everytime with perfection. It's like removing whistles from emotions and adding sustained G#5s in between, nice but takes away sth which made the song special. Well there are multiple clips online when she hits the note in studio where it was NEEDED to preserve the feel of the song, what it conveys! But in live shows (which were her source of earning) why the hell would she put her voice on the line every time? I mean there's a reason why singers bring the key down...they gotta sing (the good ones) for public coz they paid but also preserve their voices time after time for show after show which would last hours...Celine has been serving vocals for decades. Moreover when she wanted she could go all in like in Divas live!! So, props to Kelly Props to Celine but don't bring down Celine by saying its a piece of cake...so the cakes here have different flavours dahhlinggg! As Mariah would say 😂😂

Depends on when you were born and musical preferences if I'm not mistaken Celine's version peaked at 4 on top 100 while Eric Carmen's version peaked at 2. It was a massive hit back then people just tend to remember the more recent version Same goes for Whitney while her version was one of the greatest vocals ever and more popular for sure Dolly's version wasn't some obscure song it reached #1 on country charts two different occasions .. Whitney also took the song in a love song direction while the real meaning was about her splitting from her old business partner and pursuing success alone.

Kelly is a classic example of what a singer can accomplish if she takes care of her vocal chords and is always learning how to better herself vocally. So many singers start off super powerful and then their voice gives out as they get older. Kelly has done the complete opposite and I swear she keeps sounding better every year! Her mix is just next level. She should do a masterclass on how to mix properly and taking care of your instrument.
