Barry Manilow's classic "Mandy" found a new life on TikTok during lockdown when Canadian heartthrob William, aka @whiteyy18, went viral for his lip sync videos to the song. Barry reacts to the viral TikToks, and meets William for the first time. Barry also dishes on his Las Vegas Westgate residency, what it's like to perform on stage after the lockdowns, and his new musical "Harmony" opening in NYC in 2022.

I was in 4th grade when the song Mandy came out. I was the only Mandy in my school. It was not a popular name in 1974. I didn’t like my name because I could never find it in a key chain or a mug. Then Barry Manilow sang a song just for me. It was awesome.

jennysue62 Honey, we’re the same age! I used to dream about being one of his background singers when I was in 8th grade. Do you remember Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rocking Eve? I mean, back when Dick Clark was still alive? He had Barry on that show probably more than once. It was a tradition back then to listen to Barry sing “It’s Just Another New Year’s Eve.” I’ve seen Barry live 4 times. Twice at the Universal Studios Amphitheater, (one of those times was on New Year’s Eve). Then, I saw him on a set at Paramount Studios on a taping of The Leeza Show when he released his Singing with the Big Bands album in ‘94 (part of that show is here on YT and you can see my friend and I on camera). Let me tell you that watching him sing with a band like in the 40’s was wonderful! Finally, I flew to Vegas in ‘94 or ‘95 to see him at the MGM Grand. You’re completely right. His songs really are timeless. ❤️

I fell in love to Barry's music when I was in high school back in 1980. My girlfriend and I refused to remove Barry's greatest hits 8 track tape from the player in my truck. Our friends got so used to hearing it also that we would have "sing a longs" together on the tailgate 😂. It was one of the happiest times of my life. Being 17 y/o, made $50 a week at my "after school" job. I always had money. Gas was .50 cents a gallon. We didn't have to have car insurance. My old truck was paid for due to saving from a summer time job. I was in heaven 👏🤗. Thank you Barry for all your music that has made us who we are today.

William has great taste! As well as his Dad. Love Barry Manilow. His personality, his outstanding vocals, his sense of humor. I first heard Mandy around the age of 17. That was when Radio DJ's were actually "live" and took requests around 1979 - early 80's. I always requested "Mandy".. they always played it.
