It's good to hear a Jersey accent again! I live in middle Tennessee now, Zone 6B, originally from north Jersey, Zone 5b/6a. We have a row of beautiful peonies that are over 60 years old. The story goes that my mother-in-law received them as a gift when my husband was born. They have a lot of meaning for us! I did my due diligence to prepare the soil well for the tubers we split from the originals and they are doing very well. I want to make sure I continue to care for them well. I had never heard of dry cutting before and I will definitely do this next Spring.

Yes; they’re just so beautiful 😍😍!!! We bought our house 6 years ago & the previous owner was A flower lady ; we luckily inherited a boat load of Perennial blooms all around the house including 3 gorgeous Peonies bushes . She has made me really get into planting more flowers 🌸. Happy Gardening!!!

Love, Love, LOVE my peonies! Got my start when a co-worker had to move to Colorado & gave me all her peony tubers. Ever since, have moved my peonies whenever I move (different places in Pennsylvania). Daughter who lives in NM wishes she could grow them, too, but can't. Funny story: one year my kids & the neighbor kids got to playing in the bulb garden & decided that the little balls made super-good ammunition. Almost hung those kids from the clothesline that year!

VERY helpful information I love peonies and didn't know NOT to cut them way down to inches from ground and then Pretty soon I had no blooms the following years !!! then I was scared to cut any !!! But now I'd like to make bouquets Thank you for you info I'm in zone 5 in Vermont

Thank you so much Kelly and Lucy!!!🥰 Peonies are my absolute favorites! The beauty of the bloom takes my breath away and the sweet aroma puts me into a waking dream! I always have to rush my cuttings, because they do come all at once. This year I gave away 5 huge bouquets 💐 because my house was filled, a storm was coming (and you know how one good thunder storm and downpour will ruin those delicate petals!), and I didn't have any more vases!!! This tip is too good to be true! I will most certainly use it next year, as sadly, my I peonies are pretty much done outside, except a few buds that may open. Thank you again! And I ❤seeing Lucy, reminds me of my Bernie, Sammy who I still miss everyday!😇

@@KellyLehman I'd forgotten to say how absolutely gorgeous all your peonies are. I have about 6 plants, but I think I have to bring them to the surface a bit. I think they're too deep and I'm not getting many blooms on a couple plants. It's been a few years since I've done that.

I planted peony bulbs in Spring. Since then, I read the flowers only last 7-10 days. Is that true and, if true, is there anything I can do to get the blooms to last longer.

Hi from Canada. I bought some peony roots at a big box store, put in dirt and have been keeping in greenhouse, only 3 of 6 are poking up. How long do they usually take to wake up?

Can you freeze the blooms in the marshmallow stage and have them bloom months later? My friends are planning their wedding and this is their plan: cut them in May and use them in August. I am extremely concerned!

I’m not an expert in flowers but I saw someone last week talk about freezing them and taking them out 6 months later 🤷🏼♀️
