when making your designs in illustrator, do you create a cutpath in illustrator or do you export the art from illustrator into cricut design space then make an offset cut path? I am having issues transferring illustrator art with my cut contour line into cricut design space, when cutting it cuts off the ends of the contour line : /

What is the best weatherproof, fade proof, washable vinyl sticker sheet brands to use with Cricut systems?
@KellyRossouw2 жыл бұрын
This is quite a complicated one to answer! The majority of the Cricut permanent vinyls work beautifully (the non "fancy" ones eg holographic, shimmer etc). For other brands look for the Outdoor label - those are the ones that are rated to last longer outdoors under the sun and weather etc.

Found this to be the best video tutorial on sticker making out there. At least for me. But, we need a new tutorial as there’s the new Create Sticker option in design space. I finally (after 1 year) am trying to do my logo stickers again, as I had given up. Hopefully the second half of steps are exactly the same. Though it might take some trial and error due to not knowing the difference between a Die Cut and a Kiss Cut. Actually, the new feature seems quite different. It looks good and easy on canvas but it would make it now a print then cut method I believe. Well, thanks for this video 🙏🏼

Can you print on any permenant vinyl? So they arent layed but more a less like any sticker youd get out of a rolls of kids stickers or something?
@KellyRossouw Жыл бұрын
Want to clarify some terminology quick: printing means to use a printer to deposit ink onto a surface. A Cricut is not a printer, it is a cutter (plotter). With that in mind, you can use this method to cut any kind of adhesive vinyl (permanent or removable). If you want to print on printable vinyl (it must say printable otherwise it is not printable!), and you don't use transfer tape with it 😊 Hope that makes sense!

Thanks so much for this tutorial! I haven’t seen stickers being done this way so thanks for such an informative video! I just have one question (I think I’m being daft). Does that make sense? Thank you so much! X

Thanks so much Fran! The transfer tape is just to move the decal from the backing to your surface, so it should be removed after being applied :)

@LetsGetClacking So, using this method, you reload the mat with transfer tape and already cut vinyl to cut the "orange" layer since the cricut doesn't see colors. And aligning and attaching them, as they are shown on that white box, keeps them in the right spot to cut both times? I've always seen that removing and then reloading the mat will make the cricut cut in a different spot than what it cut before. Please explain how it cuts exactly right.
@KellyRossouw Жыл бұрын
As you are cutting the offset, it doesn't need to cut exactly right. It can be a little bit off, and wont matter 😊

Such a helpful tutorial thank you Kelly! I hope you have a solution for my dilemma! I am trying to make multiple laminated bag tags. The tag is a rectangular shape with rounded corners, with an image and name inserted, created in design space. I am using the print and cut method, once printed, I then laminate the whole page (laminated on both sides) and feed the printed laminated page back into my Maker to cut, this works perfectly, but ……… I would like to have a border of just the laminate around each bag tag so that it actually seals around the tag to make it more durable. I have not been able to find a hack or tutorial for this. The only other solution I can think of is to individually laminate each bag tag, which will be so time consuming. I hope this makes sense! I would love to be able to do all this on the Maker - perfect cut. I would appreciate any suggestions you may have. Thank you!

@KellyRossouw Жыл бұрын
This method is aimed at those wanting to make more smaller stickers. If you are doing a much larger sticker, you can still use this same method, but it will need to be slightly adapted so you would be able to do this same method for a sticker up to 60cm/24" long. If you want to do a longer sticker you would not be able to use this same method as you would be using smart vinyl/the matless method

You are most welcome! I discovered that Medium cardstock works just as well, and is quicker and better on my mat too!

Thank you for sharing this video! Yours are by far the best on youtube. I am wanting to do some decals for a kayak / canoe. What type of vinyl do you think would work best. I have purchased oracle 210 a waterproof laminate that I’ve used for my sublimation stickers but just not sure if it’s necessary to do that way for a decal.
@KellyRossouw Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! Definitely waterproof or outdoor (651) vinyl. But be prepared to replace it sooner rather than later in any case, under harsh conditions not all vinyls will last forever! :)

When you added the tape, how did you let the maker know where to cut?When you remove the mat, the maker starts all over again.
@KellyRossouw Жыл бұрын
The second page you cut is the one for the transfer tape, this is why we have 2 different colours! One just the offset, and the other is the sticker itself!
@melissab9646 Жыл бұрын
@@KellyRossouw How do you get the second cut to line up with the first. I sent mines to the mat and they are over to far toe the left, had to adjust but can't get second page lined up.
@cherimccain12 Жыл бұрын
My thoughts exactly. Cricuts always cut differently if you remove the mat and then reload it.

@kellyRossouw what brand of tranfer tape is that? I can't find clear without the grid mark on it. I tried cold lamintation for water proofing, they are took thick for bike frame stickers than need to bend all around a cold metal tube.
@KellyRossouw16 күн бұрын
This is Poli-Tape which isn't available worldwide, but there are some brands available on Amazon that dont have lines on them x

Where did the white background come from? Is it behind the green vinyl? Is it bought that way? Did you stick the green on the white?
@KellyRossouw Жыл бұрын
The white is the backing sheet of the vinyl, it is there to keep the adhesive covered and you remove it when you want to stick the decal onto something :) Its just the paper protective layer
@Revelation_Overland Жыл бұрын
@@KellyRossouw oh ok. So once the sticker is applied the there is no more white. Do you have a video how to have a white background?
@diannypimentel2379 Жыл бұрын
I have a question ! When you laid down the green vinyl and had the cricut cut out the lettering. Where did the white that’s under the green stickers come from ?
@KellyRossouw Жыл бұрын
That is the backing of the vinyl :) the carrier sheet it comes on to protect the adhesive

Great Video!! Question: why is my offset cut not centered for cut #2? Images are aligned, machine is calibrated. Any suggestions?
@KellyRossouw Жыл бұрын
Thank you! It could be a bug, but do you have both layers attached with the 29.2 cm box around it?

Great video! But I don’t get how you got black and white, did you stack black and white vinyl it before cutting it? Did I missed something here?
@KellyRossouw6 ай бұрын
Thank you! There is no white vinyl, the white is the backing sheet and gets pulled away. This is a plain black vinyl decal/sticker.

Amazing video! Did you change blades at all or did you use the fine point blade for both cuts?
@KellyRossouw2 жыл бұрын
Thabk you so much! Used the fine point blade for it all 🥰

Do you use a regular blade for this or should I use a different blade?

Your standard fine point blade is needed to cut vinyl :)

Help! I keep losing my stickers behind my 11.5 x 11.5 white square that I use for my guide. How do I get this to stop?

You will need to send that square to the back :) Right click on it, and click send to back!

I learned some things from your video, so thank you for making it. I feel confused about the vinyl you used though. I haven't made anything with an offset yet. Did you have two layers of vinyl on your mat? Or did you not cut all the way through on the first cut then cut through when cutting the offsets?
@KellyRossouw Жыл бұрын
You are so welcome! It is just a one layer vinyl sticker. The white is the backing of the vinyl. The clear layer is transfer tape to move it off the backing, and onto where you want to place it

Could you add the step and what to click when you "send it to the machine"?

does it print white color? What kind of ink do you need? I don't understand
@KellyRossouw Жыл бұрын
Hi! These machines aren't printers, they cut out the designs from coloured sticker vinyl 😊 so if you want a white sticker, you need to cut your design out of white sticker vinyl!
@tabcran Жыл бұрын
What if the sticker logo has multiple colors? Do you do vinyl paper per color or would you recommend print then cut?
@KellyRossouw Жыл бұрын
You would need to either layer your decal, or use print then cut depending on the complexity of the design - neither of those are well suited to this method :)
@tabcran Жыл бұрын
Understood. For layering the decal, i know how to do that but I get confused on the cutting stages. How do you cut each layer for it to end up as the full decal in the end? If you have a video on this, can you send link? I tried searching but was unsuccessful. I bought all color material and the sticky transfer paper because i love how the end result looks in this video. Trying to achieve the same look but with multi color decal.
@tabcran Жыл бұрын
Would you be able to post a video of this same process but with multi color logo?
@throwback88811 ай бұрын
I'm new to this why did you use two colors at first, the black and the orange but the final product just comes out green? What if I wanted to make a decal with different colors in it?
@KellyRossouw10 ай бұрын
They are two separate layers for the different cuts you need to make. First cut the vinyl, then weed it apply the transfer tape and then cut through everything!
