As a second time mom as well, I recommend a carry on hard-shell suitcase (one fits the whole family, mom, dad, baby) because you can sanitize it in the parking lot and that gives me a lot of peace of mind!

Finally a mama saying using the FREEEE STUFF! Our insurance paid over 2k in Dermablast , pads , breast pumps , witch hazel pads!! , diapers everything guys you are charged anyway souse it guys!!

Little tip for other people some hospitals don’t provide everything so maybe it be good to check with what hospital u are going to before I’m in uk with my first they didn’t provide anything so I had to bring everything

Congrats on baby no 2 🎉 I am currently 35+6 and for my hospital bag I packed plastic slippers to go into the shower in them and not barefoot; no robe as it is very warm in the hospitals (at least where I live 😅) and also the afterbirth heat waves vere intense the first time; my husband is going o bring me my going out outfit so I don't have to carry it with me :) ; love that you don't bring makeup, I am amazed by people that want and can throw on full face of makeup just to leave the hospital 😅 good for them but I could never :D ; love the necklace! ; great advice on baby clothes for leaving the hospital 🙂 for me it is also what my husband is going to bring when he comes to pick us up ; I think the only extra thing I have in my bag is eye cover and it is hospitals policy to always have a small light on in every room (in case of emergency) and I had a very hard time sleeping during my first stay as I love to sleep in complete darkness 😅

Many hospitals have breast, feeding pillows for mom and baby to use whilst in the hospital. As a neonatal, ICU nurse, a pro temp that some of our moms have shared for women who is producing a decent amount of breastmilk, to pump some out and put it on the pad immediately before using it as it is said to help healing. But only if you are getting a good amount of breast milk. And don’t use the colostrum for that!!

Good to know!!! And yeah our hospital specifically told mamas not to bring breast pumps and stuff like that because they have them for us but that they are more than happy to help instruct you on how you’ll use yours!

As a former employee of the hospital the items they give you is not free. It’s part of the hospital bill that people don’t know about.

Except, nothing at the hospital is really free, so if your self pay or don’t want a huge bill after insurance make sure you know what’s covered and what isn’t. 😅
