So basically it's not necessary to sand if you see no gray spots? Im new at this.

sanding will help the stain soak better into the wood. but if you dont want to sand, make sure you clean and scrub a few times.

Hi can you tell me after you installed the cedar did you seal or is it not needed on new cedar and also what are the climate conditions that your cedar deck exposed too .. does youe deck get exposed to snow ? alot of rain and high heat from sun

Immediately after installation, we didn’t seal it. We installed it in august and then stained it the following may. We live in PA so it was exposed to a full winter and it gets the high afternoon sun

@@KelseyGonder I didn't realize you could leave it out for a winter like that without sealing it or staining it. There seems to be a lot of conflicting advice on the internet. I had my deck installed in June and wanted to stain it before the winter, but the weather is not cooperating and it's been really rainy. But yours looks fine even after winter.
