I fucking love this scene so much. Kelsier finally throws down with an Inquisitor, who are built up as these almost unkillable deities, and he actually wins, and then the Lord Ruler shows up and just immediately owns him like it’s nothing. Really drives home the hopelessness of the entire situation. Sanderson is an absolute master.

Right?! I think no one was more surprised Kelsier killed an Inquisitor than the man himself! It was a monumental achievement! Yet another reason that scene is just so cool. We see this unprecedented event that no one even planned for because no one thought it possible. I guess one could say you *hit the nail on the head*. I think it's really nice that despite Vin being the final hero in this book who triumphs over their enemies to an even greater extent than one Inquisitor, Kelsier still gets one last time to shine in a well-earned blaze of glory and heroism. Kelsier is a mixed character with heroic and villanous aspects, and it seems the cosmere books are going to continue to expand on that hero/villain dichotomy. But in this scene, he was totally the hero. And an epic action hero at that.

Huge spoiler for everyone else man
@randombailey11663 жыл бұрын
@@Tetrik82 Not really, it’s never explicitly mentioned but always inferred and has been a theory for a while. A little more evidence helps solidify it but its still speculation. Besides, there’s so many crossovers in the universe that anyone just now getting into mist born is asking for trouble by looking in the comments lol
@ianlarsen39203 жыл бұрын
I would consider this a spoilery comment since Brandon Sanderson himself has confirmed it. Fortunately, I have read the book that implied it at this point, so it wasn't spoiled for me. But what's done is done. The rest of my comment is a spoiler, so continue reading at your own risk. Anyway, about the Ghostblood thing... I think this is meant to be an instance of a hero becoming an anti-hero, or even a villain. The thing about Kelsier is... I don't think he's quite as good as the people he knew would think he is. As Brandon has said, Kelsier is just the hero of Mistborn because of the setting he was in, with the state of the world being so terrible and the Lord Ruler oppressing it. If Kelsier was in a different world, different story, he would be the villain. I used to think Brandon just said that hypothetically, but now we're actually seeing it happen. Also, Kelsier isn't micro-managing the Ghostbloods. He's pulling the strings in the background, but he doesn't have a hand in all their goings-on. He may be managing the people who work for him, but not so much the people who work for the people who work for him. So the Ghostbloods manifest themselves in different ways on different worlds because of the different people running the branches. So there's a chance Kelsier wouldn't approve of some of the stuff Mraize is doing, for example. I understand your concern about this good guy letting these bad things happen, of course. Kelsier was one of my favorite Mistborn characters. But it seems he's not quite as good of a guy as he would seem. And characters evolve. Maybe this was a steady descent over decades or centuries where he became more power-hungry and less of a caring person. The Thaidakar we know of comes around three hundred years after Mistborn, after all. I'm sure he became more of a villain over time. I gotta say, though, that reveal was one of the most mind-blowing moments I read in Rhythm of War. I even bought into that theory because I saw its merit, but I never expected to actually get that reveal. In that series, no less! Sanderson is a brilliant writer. I'm interested to see where he takes Kelsier. Particularly in the next Mistborn series.

Thank you very much. I hope to make many more fanmade songs like these. I just haven't recorded many of them and some of them are just ideas in my head for now. Included in this song and others in progress is a theme or motif I intend to use for the Steel Ministry, Inquisitors, the Lord Ruler, just the baddies of the Final Empire in general. Maybe Marsh's will fit into that, maybe he'll get his own that is a variation of the original theme. It's fun to think about. We'll see. Some characters are easier to make themes for than others.

Thank you for your kind words. :) About Oathbringer music... I'm not so sure about doing that because I know there is a music group that's already creating epic soundtracks to the Stormlight Archive called The Black Piper. They are really, really good. They've done an album based on The Way of Kings, so I'm sure one for Oathbringer is sure to come too. But since they seem to have that covered, I've decided to step away from making any Stormlight soundtrack myself and leave them to it because of how great they are, and I'll just stick to Mistborn. And maybe also Elantris and Shadows for Silence, who knows. However... I have made a couple Oathbringer-inspired songs in times past because I couldn't help it, so maybe I'll record them at some point!

Shoot, I don't have Twitter. Does he do Facebook? I want to send these to him at some point, but I'm not sure how.

I know this is a bit late, but Sanderson is a really heavy Reddit user. I believe his username is u/mistborn or something along those lines, if you wanted to share there. This music is the best btw. :D

@@Oklane Thank you for this, both for your recommendation and kind words. I do have a Reddit account, just don't use it. Maybe there's a possibility there.
