I totally forgot that the sister had a son. He was the boy on the bike when Hae-in went to the town to save the dad. Somehow, he and the husband went to the US. But I don't remember that scene. Why did they include him ( the boy) just to send him away?

That boy is the brother's son. The sister's son was mentioned once in the first episode when Hyun-woo told his family he wanted a divorce. He said she doesn't want him to divorce Hae-in because she needs money for her son and husband that studying abroad.
