Previously I've read a few investments books and understand nothing, until my friend taught me the first step on how to use trading app, how many lots to buy with my capital, how to calculate profits etc, then only I start to understand what the books are talking about. There're too much to learn, from fundamental measures like PE, analysis of quarter reports, to technical charts analysis...

there is a reason why dbs charge commision of $25, while tiger and other brokerage change only a few dollars.... $25 is for holding in CDP account, the latter is custodian account

Hi Kelvin, thanks for your videos. I think they are casual and very insightful. Just to get your opinion, with a small capital say $2000, how would you start investing? Buying Growth ETF, buying growth companies or selling cash covered put options for companies with share price of $20 and below? Thanks.
@KelvinLearnsInvesting2 жыл бұрын
Can go for growth company if you are familiar with them. Otherwise can go for growth etf for slightly lower risk. Cash covered put will always give lower returns, so that shouldn't be the main strategy

Kelvin, what do you think about using PE ratio to judge whether a stock is a good stock?
@NicholasYg2 жыл бұрын
Only applicable to matured companies. For growth stocks, look at P/S since most of them are barely profitable or not profitable yet.

Kelvin, you still believe that investing will not make people rich ??
@KelvinLearnsInvesting2 жыл бұрын
If you watched that entire video, you will know the reason i believe that. You won't get rich if: - you invest only a small portion of your money - you invest in low returns investments - you anyhow invest researching properly

Hi Kelvin, for total debt/Equity, stocks like apple who is profitable and growing, but the debt/Equity is 200+, while in the video you were saying that ~11 is healthy range while gamestop is at around ~30+ which is not good, so I'm a bit confused with this debt/Equity. would you kindly explain?
@gomugomu44892 жыл бұрын
Hihi, all companies are unique. It’s a little simplified. Debt/Equity measure the risk and company’s ability to repay its debt. Apple may not have that much equity is a good and bad thing. As equity is usually good if you own more things thus making company more valuable. But appl is able to make money, without owning much of its supply which makes it liability less. No need to account for assets utilization etc. You shouldn’t worry too much about debt/equity but you need to think about the stock price of appl if it’s too high or too low as a business.

What is the different between etf n unit trust?
@KelvinLearnsInvesting2 жыл бұрын
Unit trust has a fund manager actively doing stock picking etc. Etf is just tracking the market passively. So unit trust tends to have higher fee compared to etf
