*This is Greek Pontic dance Serra, or Phyrric war dance.* It is originated in ancient Greece and is said to be the dance Kurítes danced in order to silence the cries of little Zeus when Rhea tried to hide him from Kronos. Ionian Greeks immigrated the area of Pontus Black Sea in 800 B.C., they carried their traditions and identity with them. They later became a part of the Byzantine empire changing their religion to Christian Orthodox. When they were (many centuries later) occupied by Ottomans their pontic dances and traditions were copied by the local Turkish population and mixed with theirs. Over the course of years many Turkish words were adopted in the Pontic dialect, but their religion was the reason many mass killings occured during the following centuries. The final Pontic Genocide started in 1914 along with the Armenian, in the context of Kemal Attaturk's "national cleansing". It was completed by the end of 1922. In 1923 the Greek and Turkish government agreed to a population exchange based on populations' religion. "Horón" is the ancient Greek word for "chorus". The same word is still used today in Greece as "Horós". There was never an Armenian Genocide. The origin of the dance is true but the rest is wrong. The population of Armenian people is literally more than the population of Native Americans. If Mustafa Kemal Atatürk wanted to do a genocide then there would be no Armenian country today. Wikipedia hold sides in arguments and there's a lot misleading information. The real reason why some Armenian people died was that; back in 1914, in Caucasian Fort, Armenians secretly took Russia's side in the battle of Sarikamish. Before Sarikamish battle Armenian people lived along with Turks in Ottoman Empire and they weren't even totally considered as a minority race. Armenian people attacked as group of people and not as an army. That's why this incident is only seen as killing innocent people, in reality it was a Coup. As Atatürk was already fighting for the independence of Turkey; this coup was another problem. The best option was destruction.
