R.I.P. Ken Berry (3 November 1933 - 1 December 2018), one of my all-time favorite performers. Thank you, Ken, for all the entertainment.

I saw him live at a Fort Worth, Texas show and he was fabulous. He was doing "Promises, Promises" and sniffled through the whole thing. Afterward he said goodbye and was not sick at all. I was amazed at what a good actor he was to convince me he was ill while dancing, singing and acting.

Amazing talent already at a young age. His tap rhythms weren't very tight yet, but he got better.

For those who didn't know he was such a good dancer... Ken studied dance with Louis DaPron (Donald O'Connor's choreographer) and Al White. And won a talen contest when he was in the Army for his dancing (and singing) talents (in the mid 1950s)... kzbin.info/www/bejne/q5Wcn2Woi8ihnMU Here is a quote from Ken about his love of Fred Astaires' dancing talents... "Fred Astaire was my big hero. As Gene Kelly articulated it, 'He's a phenomenon.' No human body has ever been able to move like that. I don't think people now really appreciate that fact--that there has never been a human being who moved like that. I've never seen anything like it in my life and I don't think any of us ever will. I know just enough about dance to know how impossible it is to do what he did. It's a really 'sweat' job, the hard work. When it comes to dance, nobody has ever touched him before or since." ... although I think Ken under-estimated his own talents in that statement as he certainly does come very, very close... tagsrwc.com/the_ebullet/remembering-ken-berry/

I personally love Ken Berry’s dancing better than anyone’s including Fred Astaire. I’ve never been moved to such heights watching anyone’s talents & personality other than his. 🕺🏽

Fantastic performance. Does anyone know if video's available of a song and dance Ken Berry did to "I Found a Million Dollar Baby in a Five-and-Ten-Cent Store" for, I think, Bell Telephone Hour or somesuch TV variety show in the mid-late '60s? I think Shirley Jones was on that show as well. I've never forgotten that number from my childhood and have book looking for it for some years. At least I recently found Berry's equally amazing "Hollywood Palace" appearance..
