Ken Block slays ice in Dakar Stage Winning Audi RS Q e-tron!

We are back at the Zell am See frozen lake in Austria for another rad day of driving race cars. I get the pleasure of shredding the Dakar Stage Winning Audi RS Q e-tron race car, on ice… I love my job! Mattias Ekström, the driver who piloted Audi race car to the Dakar Stage win, is riding shotgun with me for a quick crash course on getting up to speed in a very new and very complex electric race car. Did you hear that! 8,000KMs in 13 days. I absolutely LOVE Dakar! I really wish it got better coverage in the US. The race puts all other forms of racing to shame.

I think he misspoke... “The route will consist of around 4,000 km (2,500 mi) of special stages and 2,500 km (1,600 mi) - 3,000 km (1,900 mi) of liaisons.” Liaisons aren’t timed and are simply transfer stages, although they are still hard miles.

"respectfully drive" this monster from our finest rally era to here hoon the hell out of this new gigantic RC truck.. and after watching the other videos, e tron might be the car for us with gas going towards 10$ a gallon..

There is not enough infrastructure for electric vehicle charging nor is the battery technology up to where it needs to be yet. The biggest problem with electric vehicles is that is takes way too much expenditure of energy to charge them. The average electric vehicle requires 30 kilowatt-hours to travel 100 miles - the same amount of electricity an average American home uses each day to run appliances, computers, lights and heating and air conditioning. Then, there is the problem of what is generating the electricity to charge the vehicles. They use whatever is powering the grid, and since they use so much electricity to run, they are actually worse for the environment and more expensive to run than gas and diesel vehicles.

You are saying,. 80 bucks a month is more expensive than eight gallons of gas? i get what you are getting at, just think you are confused a bit? i i owned a vehicle. it would probably take me six months to drive 100 miles. maybe once a month to go into town (six miles round trip)

I own an Audi e-tron 2022, and I highly recommend it. Amazing car. Great comfort, super high build quality. I live in Norway though, so charging infrastructure is great and cost of electricity is very cheap.

I'm really impressed that the same car that competed in a desert at god-knows-temperature and later use it on ice with same configuration but 50-60°C (or more) difference in ambient temp.
