I’m glad he mentioned that we should be over preparing. He’s absolutely right, it’s better to be too prepared than devastated and being reactionary. If everyone just wore a mask regularly, we could save so many lives. I just finished chemotherapy and wore one every day even though I struggled breathing due to the drugs’ effect on my lungs and it was fine.

I know ive been having my dog wear a mask everytime we go to the park. Hes fully shaved too as covid can stick to fur. Next week were planning on vaccinating him at the vet with his second booster. I just completed my 3rd booster yesterday and am so proud of the progress were all making. If only everyone wore a mask. Sigh.

As someone from Europe who has a satellite dish - better offer when it comes to sports and premium channels imo - I have to ask... Where did that reaction came from? How different is the situation in US? Streaming services are a norm too in my country, but they are more of an addition to cable or satellite TV.

Same in Australia, cockies eating their wires is a problem here & stops some people getting them, but still pretty common, especially for people wanting foreign language content. Just in my block of 20 units, there's 3 satellite dishes & I believe one of them has 2 properties connected to it (although not 100% sure on that)

@@mehere8038 Ah, OK. In that case, satellite and cable are still around here in the U.S. but, yes, not very common any more because people are streaming instead ("cord-cutting" is the term, I think). The main reason is probably just the cost, and streaming is on-demand, and then KZbin and other social media is free.

​@@krystal1722 ah ok :) The people in my area with it are all older & English Second Language, so I dont' think cost is a huge consideration for them, they got this when it was what was available & it works for them, so they keep it :) Out of interest I had a bit more of a look here & in Australia, there's nearly half a million people on "Sky Muster", which is the satellite internet service for people outside the range of cabling & mobile phone tower reception. It's government subsidised & prices for that satellite internet appear to be cheaper than regular NBN services in metropolitan areas. They use the same type of satellite dishes as your directtv service does too, no huge 80's ones. NBN btw is "national broadband network" a decade or so ago our government began replacing all the copper phone lines with high speed broadband internet cables to futureproof the country. Almost done now, but still a few people not yet connected to it. Has been a rather good thing during covid & lockdowns & people working from home, cause the phone/internet systems have been able to cope with it. Has been pretty funny actually, watching American late night talk show interviews during covid, the Aussie ones are always good quality, while America's had a lot of slow connection/cut in & out ones. tbh though, I still liked the old connection better than the new one & found it more reliable & cheaper & I'm not alone. Other option here is mobile phone based internet access & in some locations cable tv is still available, but most cable tv's been switched to NBN fibres too now & the tv cables disconnected. Satellite tv I really have no idea how it works, other than knowing it obviously still does, due to the number of satellite dishes around. Tv is generally just referred to as "pay tv" if using cable or satellite or whatever, other than "streaming", which is referred to differently & then of course there's free to air tv as well, which is available via tv antennas, or on demand from the tv stations websites, free but with embedded ads. Most people here still tend to watch free to air tv for live stuff, such as news, sport & special events
