Kenny, you're a legend, mate! To those asking silly questions or making silly statements about music, paper... go fly a kite in deep water. This is a little taste from his DVD series (I have all 3 and they're fantastic!).. Ken is a brilliant, expressive mad genius filled with passion and purpose. For Christ sakes the man has cadmium running through his veins!! Turn it up Kenny!!

I love the way he’s absolutely covered in paint, like his kit. I’d love to see the next owner of that car! That panel he painted, wow. If you scaled up his tools you’d be using a yard brush on a 16” x 12” canvas, boy he has great control.

Hiya Ken, awesome plein air video! Thanks for doing these, and I'm sooo glad to see that I'm not the only one that comes home with more paint on my face than I've managed to get on my canvas. My wife says I have two kinds of clothes, those that have paint on them, and those that will. Paint on!!

My wife was painting rocks, because a lot of people hide them in the parks around, for others to find. As a landscape artist, I decided to paint some landscapes on some smooth flat rocks and like you said, I had no anxiety since these free "heavy" canvases were bountiful and I just felt free to quickly experiment. Now I have about 25 of these and some are quite nice. Only problem is, they weigh a ton. Haha. So my wife said, sell these. Get rid of them! They are drying on every shelf and counter and table. Oops. Some are quite large too. It would be nice to sell them by the pound.

Not sucky at all. I enjoyed this. Also I'm finding as a beginner I prefer doing smaller impressionist style paintings rather than large canvases. Not too much detail, but at the end of the day just having fun, happy accidents and all. Cheers mate.

Hi Ken, Do you put a primer on the cedar or plywood when you paint? Like clear gesso?
@kenknight86816 жыл бұрын
Hi Terry, Yes I often use a clear sealer to prevent too much "suck" or paint absorption while painting. I mainly use this on marine ply, or if I paint on Masonite ( without gesso ).Painting onto a dark surface will definitely alter your colour and tonal values, as opposed to painting on the traditional white surface of canvas or gesso board.If I paint on solid cedar, I like to paint on this surface without any sealer/primer ...Ultimately its a personal thing.
@tezdower83706 жыл бұрын

I often use ply, not sure if it's marine (it's dark). I use pva glue to seal it then coat it with white gesso. I'm not brave enough yet to paint straight onto the unprimed board! Love how you use that paint scraper Ken!
