Stil as fresh and witty as the day it was recorded. Ken was one of my inspirations to become a Radio Announcer and Voice Over Actor. The man was pure genius.

This pairing of Ken Nordine and Fred Astaire-Barrie Chase is pure genius! They couldn't have choreographed "My Baby" any better!

Wonderful. I heard this for first time about 45 years ago. Great to hear it again. Barrie Chase is really great.

Nordine had such an incredibly creative imagination. Word Jazz is one of my all-time favorites. Makes you feel like you're at some smokey back alley Greenwich Village Beatnik Coffee House at night sipping a little espresso laced with brandy in the late 1950s, listening to smooth progressive jazz with the lights down low and flickering candles on the tables. You look around at all the cool cats that are wearing black turtleneck shirts and dark sunglasses. Then someone steps up to the mic and starts talking or recites some free-style poetry. You feel the mood. It's all so far in that it's far out. It's like crazy, man, crazy.

What a great clip!! No idea this existed. I'm a big Ken Nordine fan. Still trying to find the episode of his radio show where he goes back to his home town and they call him onstage at the 4H fair. He gets on the stage and this country 4H band really starts swinging. Being from the midwest tickled me to no end. Great post I 'm sharing this for sure.

Gotta love Ms. Barrie Chase. I watched this, knew that I recognized that dour expression: She played Sylvester’s girlfriend in “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World” opposite Dick Shawn. She was only in the film for a few minutes but she was hilarious!

Here we go ... mate priceless, bloody priceless ... there’s my annual intake of positive endorphins right there! 2020 he passed, wasn’t it? Well Ken RIP .. found Word Jazz and Son Of Word Jazz/old London label records here in Sydney & loving them. I think Ken Nordine was to NPR what the Goons were to “Aunty” in the UK & Radio National in Australia .. u’d so look 4ward 2 that radio segment. Saturday midday; The Goons followed by Robin Williams’s Science Show on Radio National .. the magic of radio🤓
