Disagree with this. Fisher has said they plan on spending to bring good players to the A's after they move (for the only reason fisher will make statements, to generate excitement and investment for his crappy relocation plan) and what they're doing now is just playing this out. It makes the move socially and politically easier into vegas if the fans and city officials in vegas are bringing in a seemingly good and exciting team to the city to root for and (at least for the time being) a reason to believe that fisher might spend on the team (but let's be real, he won't haha).

He was alluding to the belief that the Vegas move was always a mirage and that they're adding payroll to tease Sacramento (a Top-20 Media Market > Vegas' Top-40) to get investors to pony up a "counter bid" to build a stadium and keep them in Sacramento. I personally don't think it takes the season's end before they openly start calling themselves the "Sacramento A's" and marketing the city to wet the appetite of local officials.

I'm in Toronto and the Jay's are my team. We think Shapiro and Atkins are the worst management team in baseball. They are horrible. You all sit and bash Toronto. The Mets are not exactly a team that have done much either. Not in a very long time. Let's just cut the shit. It's because it's New York. The Dodgers could be shit. Lock up Vladdy first? And Jays are never going to win again? Fair, but I disagree a bit. Vlad's literally done nothing to help this team win. Actually, the opposite - he's been in the way! The FO did build a team that has had WS predictions and put Vlad into the playoffs 3 times in the 6 seasons he has been here...where he's gone 3/23 with 1rbi. This whole half decade was about those 23 at bats. (I don't even think he was ever the best player in the lineup on any of those playoff teams.) Can't blame Ross for not wanting to over extend on Vladdy based on 3 months of pressure free baseball - Add the start of 2021 in small parks with no fans, he literally has given 160 games worth of superstar and 5 seasons of above average, but below expectations. It is probably safe to assume that his demands are ridiculous (and they should be, if not only because of service manipulation) ..but are they cheaper now than in 12 months when the market is involved. They may be betting, Yes. There are a few reasons to come here that don't include Vladdy and that's the idea of the Jays using all the deferred money they can to put together a team before the rules change lol They will have access to an empty payroll in 2027... they just need that first guy to take the boatload of cash...
