I watched this when it first was broadcast in 1968. I was 14. It was one of those films you see and never forget, and it was my introduction to Delius.

The same, saw it on WGBH when I was 14. Also, I never forgot it. I love his music so much and this film. Ken Russell before he went off the rails

Greetings from Yorkshire. (Leeds) I was 18 when I saw this and it changed my way of thinking about music wished they taught me this in school. Started a life long love of music and how I perceived the world. Thank you for posting.

Kate Bush especially in her songs gives me a deeper appreciation for how one art form can inform and inspire another. The fact that she drew inspiration from Russell's film demonstrates the interconnectedness of creative minds and the profound impact that one work of art can have on another. It's a beautiful cycle of inspiration that, for me, solidifies 'Song of Summer' not just as a historical account, but as a living, breathing muse for contemporary artists like Bush, ensuring that the legacy of Delius’s music continues to resonate through the ages.

Max Adrian in the 1962 BBC version of "Oliver Twist" brought me here. The beautiful melodies (and the madness of Ken Russell) made me stay.

an absolutely glorious film. I daresay that there's never been a more inspired film which depicts a great musician/ composer. Not easy to bring off as the recent biopic on Leonard Bernstein showed.

I saw this on American television, probably PBS, when I was young. It must have been only a few years after it was filmed. It made an enormous impression on me, much more than Delius's music has, I'm afraid.

Heh. I've been listening to Delius, trying to like his music. I can't, very much. I love Debussy, Sibelius, Vaughan Williams, many others of that era, yet Delius seems inferior to them.

@@GreenTeaViewer he's probably not on par with any of those you mention but i think he can be enjoyed on his own terms. The opening of the Mass of Life is incredible for instance.
