*Q: Why are some names different? M.Bison is Vega, etc... ? Why is the damage so high?* A: Names - because this is the original Japanese version and those are the original names the game was designed with. Detailed explanation available on en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M._Bison - check the paragraph "Conception and development". A: Damage - because this is the original Japanese version and the Japanese version has bug corrections, balance tweaks, *a higher damage rate* and a somewhat smarter AI - wiki.supercombo.gg/w/Street_Fighter_2:_Champion_Edition - check the paragraph "Differences between U.S.A./World and Japan versions". I also have the official WORLD RECORD speedrun with KEN on the HARDEST difficulty as well - kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZO7f3SpeqaaaNE Please comment and like, it helps A LOT. Thank you for watching!

No he didn't. Heck, even I have done better. Man, who have you been watching playing SF2 back in the 90s? No way in heck these are next level Dragon punches and I've seen faster completion times int he arcade. TRUE next level (or final level) dragon punches are ones that are done SUPER DEEP from a ger up, from behind, from the middle of receiving a hurricane kick, 100 slaps and 100 kicks. Ridiculously deep ones countering a deep overhead cross flying kick and so on. This performance was ok but the player can do much better. Faster even. Good luck to the player if they want to try.
@rsmith02
@rsmith02 Жыл бұрын
@@EAprima What are you talking about? The goal here is efficiency and not wasting time or taking risks that could result in a whiff. You just need it to hit deep enough to continue the combo. There are plenty of cross-ups here which are good and he knows when to do a fierce DP to get the extra hit and finish the round.

@@santiagocabrerabecause when you hit a barrel (or any opponent) there is a short pause / slowdown for a few frames... which will slightly increase the total time for the speed run. Destroying the last 3 makes the stage end quicker, otherwise you'd have to wait for all barrels to leave the screen before the stage ends. Clever tactics!

Ken DP in this game the best DP ever was in a street fighter game, you can literally hit anything with it. If Ken jumps with a HP or corssup HK in this game it's GGs And the reason why devious didn't do the tradictional triple combo on Blank, and changed to Jump HP HDP was due the fact that blank in this game doesn't respect frames🤣 Congrats on the speedrun, i never tried to speed run with TOD, but sure as hell i did some of them quite a lot even against other players.
@deviouxFGC
@deviouxFGC Жыл бұрын
Yes, on Blanka it's very hard to do the triple combo from the front, you need a very clean jump-in which is almost impossible to get. You can do a crossup jump, of course, but I specifically went for the damage trade 91-timer strat, which I've practiced a fair bit. With a crossup jump, you can get like an 87-88-89 perfect round. @deviouxFGC
@deviouxFGC 5 ай бұрын
Yes, I prefer this ladder, with Zangief first. I think it's ideal for speedrunning this game when you play as Ken. You can get rid very fast of most of the problematic characters in the first 6 fights, which are usually "easier". Blanka is one of the problematic ones, he has the most random patterns out of the entire cast and he ruined so many attempts. The fight itself is not hard, but trying to win as fast as possible makes it more difficult, because a lot of times he will do random things which stop you in your tracks or make you lose too much time. I did make two mistakes. First mistake is second round vs Boxer, I failed the timing on the jump at 6:07 and didn't manage to end the round at 87. Second mistake is second round vs Dictator, I failed the timing on the sweep at 8:21 and didn't manage to end the round at 88-89. So, in theory, the run could be improved by about 10 seconds, but honestly I'd rather not go through that ordeal again, I grinded this run 4 months and did over 20k attempts to get it :) Thank you for watching and commenting!

Does the slow-mo ending after a KO always have the same length? would it save time for example to finish with a throw instead of a dragon punch?
@deviouxFGC
@deviouxFGC Жыл бұрын
I'm not entirely sure, but I think it would save some time to finish with a throw instead of a fierce punch DP, it would probably save 1 second, maybe even 2. I was just thinking about that recently, I should have ended more rounds with a low punch DP instead of the fierce punch DP, the run could have been at least 4-5 seconds faster, maybe even more. @@davidbielsa5188 It's Ken's 4 hit combo. When you jump behind the opponent (that's called a crossup) and then do the 3-hit uppercut combo, so it's 1-hit from the jump kick and 3-hits from the uppercut combo, 4-hits in total (on some opponents it works from the front as well, like Zangief, Dhalsim, Boxer, Sagat)

How do you do the standing fist + dragon punch combo ?
@deviouxFGC
@deviouxFGC Жыл бұрын
You just press fierce punch (or any other punch button, but fierce punch does most damage) and then you quickly input the dragon punch. There are many tutorials out there on how to do the dragon punch. If you're playing on console, one video I can recommend is this one - kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5e2YWWNn7eIbsk - that shows how to input the combo on console with Ken. It's going to take some practice to pull it off, just stick to it, keep trying over and over and you'll get it eventually. You know how the old saying goes, practice makes perfect. Hope that helps a bit, feel free to ask anything else. Thanks for watching and commenting!

I am using a fightstick, yes. I have the Qanba Obsidian and the MadCatz EGO, I switch between them depending how I feel or how angry I get :) This run was done on the MadCatz stick, but I like the Qanba stick more, it just feels nicer on the left hand. I have practiced the last 4 fights A LOT, so that I know every possible scenario and be prepared for it, but I'm quite dissapointed in the last round vs Bison, I could have beaten him at 85-86 with another strategy I have practiced, but I got greedy and cocky and it cost me a bit :) Thank you for watching and commenting!

I understand the skill involved in Street Fighter but how do you manage to pull off the DP without fail?
@deviouxFGC
@deviouxFGC Жыл бұрын
Well, the more you play the game, the easier it gets, and I have over 15k hours on this game. However, I did fail the DP 2 times in this run, first time was right at the end of the flaming barrels bonus stage, I failed to execute the last combo on the flaming barrels (6:32), and second time was vs Sagat on the second round, I didn't execute correctly the finishing 3 hit combo (7:47). I was starting the get nervous towards the end of the run, cause I knew the pace was very very good :) Thank you for watching and commenting.

Best move was actually the weak kick to strong punch followed by a dragon punch on ken. Weak to strong is actually very hard to do on this game. Everything else, many including myself has done it before back in the 90s especailly.
@deviouxFGC
@deviouxFGC Жыл бұрын
That move is called a CPS-1 chain. You actually have to press two buttons at the same time to get it, that's what makes the move a bit harder to do and also the distance between buttons can make it a bit harder to input, but it gets easier the more you practice it. So you do: crouching weak kick -> standing weak kick + fierce punch -> dragon punch. I have done that in this run both rounds vs Guile and second round vs Ken (I did fail the move vs Ken on the first attempt, you can see I got 2 weak kicks, but then I got it on the second attempt). Thank you for watching and commenting.
@EAprima
@EAprima Жыл бұрын
@@deviouxFGC Good job on that, it's something I haven't done yet though I have done everything else. If you do a CPS-1 chain combo video that will be the one that could make people shout out "omg" for it's a difficult feat. Doing that in a versus game will get people chanting even more. That is one to see. No. Thank YOU for spending the time making videos that people appreciate. :)

@lowdev7 I wonder why you avoided doing damage to the barrels at the bonus stage (4:00). I mean, 20 seconds of in-game time need to pass anyway, whether you hit the barrels or not, right?
@deviouxFGC
@deviouxFGC Жыл бұрын
Smashing those barrels gives you points and points take time to get counted at the end of the bonus stage. Especially if you get a "perfect" on that stage, that's not good, the score count for "perfect" takes at least 5 seconds or more, so it would take those 20 seconds + another 5-7 seconds if you get a perfect. So the fastest way on that bonus stage is to smash only the last 3-5 barrels at most, just to get them off the screen as quickly as possible and have the bonus stage end with a very short barrel count which lasts about 1 or 2 seconds at most. Thank you for watching and commenting.

How to do shoryuken so efficent ? You hit it two times and then you do shouryuken ? Can you explain it please ? 😊
@deviouxFGC
@deviouxFGC Жыл бұрын
It mostly just comes down to practice. Back in the day when I've started playing I also struggled to do it at first. But I practiced on the shitty arcade cabinets where I could play alone (World Warrior and Rainbow Edition). I would put in coins and try do only Shouryukens for as long as I could. Sometimes I would put in 2 coins to start a versus match and I would do only Shoryukens for 3 rounds from both sides. Hundreds of them, thousands, tens of thousands, etc. Eventually it will become pretty easy and you will naturally move on to doing combos, where it's just a matter of understanding the timing between button presses. There is no special secret or magic, just practice doing Shoryukens over and over. These days you don't have to spend any money on coins, so the practice is free, you just gotta put in the time and be willing to do the same thing over and over thousands of times :) Thank you for watching and commenting.

Yo! Very impressive stuff! I have been casually picking up this game and am curious about trying to start learning this run. Are there any resources/documentation available in terms of strategies and what not? Or is a lot of it just grinding to get super consistent with landing the jump in combos?
@deviouxFGC
@deviouxFGC 2 жыл бұрын
I don't know if there are any resources/documentation available, not to my knowledge, but I could be wrong. For me this was a massive grind, it took me almost 5 months and at least 30 thousand attempts to get this run, but that's mostly just because I was very picky about what time I wanted to get. The vast majority of attempts died to the CPU doing bullshit and ending up wasting too much time for my liking. A few attempts died because of me (failed inputs or missed combos). The jump-in combos which end a round aren't that hard to do if the CPU is already stunned, but yes, you do need to nail them. What's harder are the setups to get the stuns, there are different scenarios, timings and distancings depending on which character you're fighting, but it's all learnable. The main obstacle is that even if you know what you need to do, most of the times the CPU won't wanna cooperate and will find a way to bullshit you and end up wasting time. Overall, I'd say it is a grind, for sure, but where there's a will, there's a way ;) Try watching more runs which were posted, maybe you can pick up some other useful strats and the strats from my posted runs are public knowledge at this point. If you can get some top 3 or top 5 times, that's a great starting point to improve on. If you do manage to beat my time, massive congrats and respect! Hopefully that helps a bit. Thank you for watching and commenting and feel free to ask anything else if you'd like.

Is this a consistent speedrun ? If the answer is yes, I'd love to see it in an event like GDQ or ESA marathon. Besides MK1, 2 and 3, I think I never saw any other fighting game. SF2' would be cool.
@deviouxFGC
@deviouxFGC Жыл бұрын
This kind of time would be pretty hard to get in my opinion, it took me about 4 months to get it :) A more "consistent" time would be around 8:50 or so. I don't know how GDQ or ESA marathons work, I think you have an hour of gametime or something like that. So, the kind of time that could be achieved in about an hour would probably be around 8:50ish maybe 8:40ish. To get below that you'd need a bit of rng luck as well and that doesn't happen often.

Can anyone explain why did he avoid most of the barrels in bonus stage?
@deviouxFGC
@deviouxFGC Жыл бұрын
Breaking the barrels gives you points and points take up time to get counted. Getting a "perfect" on that bonus stage would mean losing 5-7 seconds, which is how long the "perfect" score count would last. So the fastest way on that bonus stage is to break only the last 3-5 barrels just to get them off the screen as quickly as possible and have the bonus stage end with a very short score count which last like 1 second.
