Ken is truly a gem in the sport’s history. He brought it to all of us. Mike Joy is another one who doesn’t get enough credit in my opinion. Similar ilk, similar commentary style and has been doing it at a top level for a long time.

Kens a real gentleman. I will never forget his eloquent words the night we lost Dale Earnhardt. He said as Dale came off the back stretch through 3 & 4 ... with his 2 DEI cars leading out front, Dale Earnhardt died a happy man..

10:50 "...And I intend to die right here." Ken, not any time soon okay? Ken is one of the voices of my childhood. Though it was the final stint of his career, His CBS calls of the late 80's early 90's Daytona 500's and then his time with TBS were so important to molding the way I would forever look at this sport. I'm 34. I don't look at the sport the same way most do nowadays. I credit and thank Ken for that. Without him, I wouldn't have grasped so early on the determination, blood, sweat and tears and the level of sheer bravery it took to strap into an 850 hp rocket ship and dance on the ragged edge of success and disaster.

I only got to see the tail end of Ken's career but the man is a true legend is NASCAR history. It was really cool to see him call Darlington a few years ago.
@drivedb7
@drivedb7 5 жыл бұрын
kyle Gustafson - Indeed it was. I haven’t followed NASCAR consistently in years, but I had heard that the Darlington race was suppose to be some kind of “throwback” race. I turned the TV on about midway through and when I heard who was calling the race, I just about fell over. Not much happened on the track, but Ken and Ned Jarrett just have a way of holding your attention with their polished and articulate delivery. NASCAR sorely needs better broadcasters. Hopefully Bob Jenkins and Ned will team up for a Darlington race very soon.

I've been a NASCAR fan since the early 70's and going to the track back then and meeting Ken Squire , Ned Jarrett and into the 80's Bob Jenkin's , Eli Gold and into the 90's Benny Parson's this was as much of a thrill meeting these guy's as it was meeting the driver's.

Great job Kyle great show,love ken the legend the voice..wow...its all a good show,but what people don't realize about that wreck at the 79 500,those guys didn't hit each other they got apart and got suck back together by the vacuum,there wasn't a dang thing either if those two great drivers could do about it,throw in a small cross wind and Cale and Donnie were duck soup,finished,but Donnie came down on Cale so he was pissed,I heard Bobby tell the story Cale went to hit Donnie and Bobby just pulled Cale down on the 500 video u can't see what happened but Bobby explain he just was looking out for his bro...good stuff,Yeah personality s have gone away that connection with the masses,very dumb,cars don't sell NASCAR the men who drive the cars are the hero's if people don't hear them speak genuinely,like Ken said,when u interview a athlete and he or she is genuine truthful most people are drawn to that no matter what they do,now they just say what ever one tells them to know personality or flavor....who cares what razor blades he uses nothing genuine about it,the other thing hurting AMERICA is this crap of like or dislike,what the heck is that,people just want to fit in do they lie most of em,no moxy...member that its a soda...hah hah,MICKY MANTLE drinks moxy because he had moxy,no moxy drink some think else...u can't lie to Americans they have politicians for that not our race car drivers,and like or dislike what do u give that basis on twelve seconds of knowledge or an interview,stupid and lazy...not very deep...thanks Kyle and thanks Ken what a backround for Ken he was really into racing for a long time,awsum,genuine if its okay to say that...I like Ken and now more because he was hard core 100 percent,he brought the cool knowledge able enthusiasm...piece.still going too.

Good job Kyle. I know the question about your son must of been tuff. I would've broken down. NFL players sitting on the bench getting $200,000 a game would be a dream to Nascar drivers in 40th place cars. The ignorance of our nation needs to be clear. Why we stand for our flag. I don't know how to explain. Maybe you need to go on Howard Stern and explain to the American public. Stern is a run to ignorance. Make grace to heal our country.
