Your relative in Toronto is right. 12 to 15 lakhs saving per year is a fair number provided you earn 5000 CAD per month. Expenses here will be around 3000$ and 2000$ goes into savings which is 1.2 lac rupees per month..

Health is covered by Govt (Consultation, Hospitilization). However Drugs are not covered under health insurance plan. If you are working for any Canadian company, drugs will be covered by private insurance as per company policies (Usually 85% co-insurance)

Your wasting time and what items u want to purchase because u r earning money much high compare to india explain normal software engineer earn 25k compare canda u will earn 15000 dollar per month it is plenty enough And a normal burger cost 120 rs but in Canada 6 dollar it will explain what kind of different I compare price via McDonald's price list
