I am a doctor in Pakistan, You can take smecta sachet from any medical store and add it in milk or warm water then drink it will heal your stomach. Also eat packaged yogurt. Good for your stomach.

A perfume shop keeper harassed me to death in Cairo pissing me off anger trying to say I owe him baksheesh and need perfume for wife who wasn't going to stay in his shop for he was cynical going, What you don't want to buy perfume in my shop? Err no, we don't use perfumes today. The police asked me what I wanted to do settle the matter. I said an apology and $20, but not a gross big ol' wet man kiss! I wasn't even shopping, but if I were, a price is negotiated and when bait and switch and nuanced chaos of mental disorders and greed is the racket, walk on.

Ken, l feel for you being unwell. I am surprised you don’t carry basic meds from your Travel Doctor. The medication you bought can have side effects of diarrhoea, headache and dizziness. You need to fast for 24 hours, then have white bread or salty biscuits. Drink water with sachets of salts to give you energy. Great video as usual. Ken, we encountered the same scenario as well - booked a taxi from Alama Iqbal, same detour at Cantt where we got our passports taken (we arrived in the middle of the night so that was a anxiety inducing night) and the taxi driver asked for more. Lahore is nice place in general but the first people we meet upon exiting the airport usually leaves a sour impression on the start of a good journey. 😢

I spent one year in Lahore and recently returned to Karachi a month ago. I have to say that Lahore is much better in terms of many factors, such as well-maintained roads, better infrastructure, more greenery, and most importantly, a more secure environment. The only drawback of Lahore is its extreme weather conditions. When it's cold, it's extremely cold, and vice versa.

In the U.S. when having stomach issues, we use the BRAT diet. Banana, rice, apple sauce and plain toast. You also need to get electrolytes from drinks like Gatorade or Powerade. Good luck.

Basically the airport managed taxi fair is tricky for a first time visitor. Why it is higher than Careem and why you were charged more. Unlike Careem, the airport taxi will have to go back to the airport empty as it’s the taxi policy to not pick up any customer from within the city; so you end up paying for two way ticket though you travel only one side. The price charged is per kilometre not per minute. The driver didn’t know that foreigners are not allowed to enter any military controlled area hence the passport issue, the detour and the additional cost. Hope that clarifies your confusion.

In Pakistan, we usually prefer to eat Yogurt when we have stomach or intestinal issues. Yogurt is good for digestive health, as it has probiotics. You can easily buy the sachets of ORS (Oral Rehydration Salts) from any pharmacy. Make the ORS solution and drink it periodically to cure dehydration caused by diarrhea. You can take help from the hotel staff by stating your health condition.

Arrived back to Birmingham 5 days ago after spending 2 weeks in Lahore. The smog came over the next day giving me bad sore throat cough and finally a chest infection. Will not be going there in November again but in February instead. I m 90 percent okay but landed with snow on the ground. Warning about street food. Stick to good restaurants and stay away from small eating places in the bazaars. I stick to home cooked food and have had no issues. Good luck with your journey.

Whenever you arrive at any International airport, airport taxis are expensive and can cost more if you need to know the local environment. The best is to search for and use Apps like Yango and Careem, which are readily available at airports. Since you have severe stomach issues, you should avoid street food for now and try to visit any local private hospital for better treatment. Do let me know if you need any help here.
