Exploring the east coast of Koh Chang ➡️ • The Unknown East Coast...
Off to a new island. Today we are traveling from Koh Chang to Koh Mak. The islands are basically right next to each other, but still I had to go on quite a long journey back to the mainland first before making it to Koh Mak. This island is relatively unknown, small and looks like a tropical paradise. Let’s see how the journey to reach this tiny Thai paradise island here in the Trat province went and what are my first impressions from Koh Mak.

You did good Ken!! 👍 One could argue spending 300thb in an area that has been nearly runned down by Covid is a very good and nice thing to do! Probably completely made that songtaew drivers (and his familys ) day or even week. Everyone who’s travelled knows that sometimes you just have to splurge a bit. Safe travels and keep ya head up. When people say nasty things it tells alot more about them than you. ✌️

People calling you an idiot should try to do what you do and as well as you do it. It is difficult times and your support of the community businesses is admirable. You can try the pressure points on your wrists to counter act motion sickness, it works well. Free taxi to your hotel, free bicycle hire can't be bad. It's nice to see these quiet places. There was a restaurant run by a German and Thai couple when I visited in 2019. Google says its permanently closed now. was called Koh Mak Sportsbar Restaurant & Bakery.

Cool, we stayed 3nights, really close where you stayed, up the hill at Islanda Resort, with an amaaaaaazing pool view! Overlooking the awsome ko kham! However… the island is INFESTED with angry flies/mosquitos in the sand at the beach, i think they even were called sandflies, saw a westerner woman with CRAZY bites alll over her body, damn… we were happy to go on to koh kood

I’ve been to Koh Mak a couple of times. Definitely isolated from mass tourism and pestering beach vendors and scams. I always ride a bicycle when there.There are a couple nice 3 star hotels/ bungalows to stay in and … a great seafood restaurant.

in January 2020 we visited this pretty little island Koh Mak made for total rest , away from the hustle and bustle of tourist islands . Enjoy the beautiful beaches and try to go to Koh kham which is amazing

hello Ken at the pharmacy you can buy pills against car sickness. I think it will also be for sale in 7/11. it made my travels a lot more enjoyable.

ken is now a island boii tryn to make it oh island boii 😹 .... how these bigots thinks that you don't do your research before diving into something as a full time traveler are they even thinking to call you an idiot without trying to look at themselves .... maybe they had been in that situation clueless payed overpriced for some things because they didn't do their research 😹 but regardless of those people that doesn't really matter man i love these tiny villages & when i do travel before always seek for that kind of paradise where beach is near as a walking distance because it's kinda cool to see the Beach in the morning & sunset i really really really miss traveling only if i have some financial capabilities i would definitely pack up my things now as some of the places here in the Philippines lower or removed their restrictions & things are lil bit going well as it feels like they're ready to welcome some foreign tourists... god i wish i can financially recover from this pandemic so i can hopefully start mi journey here 💨

The Thai BBQ at the restaurant with the "Duck Soup" Sign is the best BBQ I ever had. And I eat BBQ at least twice per week since 5 months. :D

Hi Ken i visited Koh Mak twenty year,s ago and the only memory i have is all the sand fly,s on the beach and the pack,s of wild dog,s roaming and fighting all night long.I vowed never to return,i hope your trip is more enjoyable😀😀😀

Mira Montra Sea Front Villa is by far the best resort on koh mak. and in current times it's not that expensive. I just paid 1500baht per night few weeks ago.

Koh Mak definately introduce you to Koh Kood's vibes!In Kood you will need to rent a motorbike 'cause is bigger.I can recommanded to have a look at the Siam Hut Resort,beach bungalow right on the most beautiful bay in Kood (in my opinion),also give a look at Sand and Sea resort,just few meters from the Siam Hut,you have a wooden drawbridge to cross.ENJOY Ken!!!

Actually it is easier to get sea-sick on an air-cond ferry than speed boat. You get dizzy more easily when you are in the enclosed air-cond environment of the ferry over a pro-long period. When you in a ferry ride of about 1 hour, make an effort to walk out to get fresh air, that will prevent sea-sick. Fully agree the atmosphere in this island is more rural and less touristy, would be interesting to explore the villages on this island. Since this island is close to Vietnam border, maybe there could be some influence of Vietnamese culture. Great to enjoy sandwiches while watching the sunset.
