Yup *telaga air* for lunch guys, about ½hr drive out of that city centre. Go to the row of stalls on the left which face the sea or rather the estuary, to the stall in the middle, but clustered in the left wing. Prawns and crabs. Go early, like reach there at 11am. Afterwards visit the row of fruit/snack stalls across the food court, and buy some knick knacks, especially try the various asam/jeruk 😋 (marvellous if the ladies are preggy!) as well as the various local kuihs like denderam, cakar ayam, kuih sepit, etc which you can nibble as you take a leisurely stroll around the dock, watch some guys trying their luck at fishing. Then head to the end of these stalls, and just ahead there's a concrete jetty that regularly has people fishing on it, and many times has people driving and parking 1 or 2 cars on it too. Next to this jetty is a short row of 3 wooden eateries on stilts partly in the waters. Go to either the 1st or the 2nd shop. The 1st has fresh coconut but it closes early (5pm if I remember correctly) and enjoy eating simple dinner like nasi goreng seafood/ayam etc while seated by the window by the waters, with small boats dancing past now and then 😊

Dodo Explorers have perfected the way to eat fish in Malaysia. All parts of the fish can be eaten including the head, tail and fins, especially if it’s grilled or fried, it’s crispy and delicious. Fish is expensive, and if you eat everything would be the best way not to waste. The idea is, just take whatever part and try to chew it gently and slowly, but if it’s too bone-y, too hard, or not to your taste, don’t swallow- you can ‘spit’ it out using spoon and ‘throw’ it at the side of your plate or into a napkin. FYI, the fish cheek is the best part, especially for steamed fish.

Dear Ken, when we split the bills after the meal, we say, " go Dutch". Looking forward for your road trip videos. Also don’t hesitate to point out the unpleasant things like the poor road conditions or scammers along the way. Because the local authorities here only takes action after things gone viral on social medias. For example, lots of road accidents here caused by bad roads but they will not fix it until after it gone viral/people got injured. That is how the lazy local authorities work here. Anyway, enjoy your trip here in borneo guys.🚗😀
