Honestly, as one of the earliest members to join neon, I can say that it was one of the most fun and engaging things to work on. Seeing it go from bedrock, to prismatic horizon, to 1.17 neon all the way to the final version was truly an experience on it's own. But I can also say that after about a year, it became one of the most mentally draining things that I've ever done. Just realising after more than a year of work how insanely ambitious it really is was devastating. The demotivation became even worse when it turned more into a adventure map than a prison. I'm lucky tho that I didn't participate in any of the drama and never really read the messages in the discord, I was just there to do redstone. While I still like the complex way of prison building way more, I'm kind of happy it's over. Goodbye Neon Void, it's been a pleasure.

At 30:29, there's a single frame of braille. "⠍⠽ ⠝⠁⠍⠑ ⠊⠎ ⠕⠵⠽⠍⠁⠝⠙⠊⠁⠎ ⠅⠊⠝⠛ ⠕⠋ ⠅⠊⠝⠛⠎ ⠇⠕⠕⠅ ⠕⠝ ⠍⠽ ⠺⠕⠗⠅⠎ ⠽⠑ ⠍⠊⠛⠓⠞⠽ ⠁⠝⠙ ⠙⠑⠎⠏⠁⠊⠗" Translated, it reads "my name is ozymandias king of kings look on my works ye mighty and despair." This quote is a reference to some century-old poem about an explorer who comes across the ruins of a once great ancient Egyptian civilization. At the entrance to the desolate ruins is a plaque inscribed with the quote from Ozymandias, the pharaoh. The quote seems to tie in heavily with the themes of ambition and inevitable abandon present throughout most of the video. It also doubles as a Technoblade reference, which is cool!
@ashley-paul Жыл бұрын
Ozymandias is better known as Ramesses the Great and is widely considered the greatest ruler of Egypt. He lived to be 90 years old, ruled for many decades, ruled over Egypt at its very height, basically won every single military campaign, even features in the Book of Exodus, and his body still survives to this day and sits in a museum in Cairo. I feel like that poem makes it sound like Ramesses was full of hubris and didn't amount to much because one of his statues fell apart, but in reality, I genuinely think he's the one historical figure who truly achieved immortality and had the successes to match his ambition. I don't know if such a parallel can be made with the greatest Pharaoh of Egypt and ultimately a spectacular failure like this project.
@fiyesjustfi32811 ай бұрын
And yet that isn't what the poem is about. While in a historical sense you're right, the poem is about the inherent hubris of man and how one day it will all be dust. @@ashley-paul

This video. This video is a combination of my favorite things on youtube. Long videos. Minecraft. Complex redstone machines. Storytelling. Comedic segments mixed in with serious segments. SHORT exposing segments in videos. Bill Wurtz. Beautiful Minecraft builds. Great, wide, covering shots and angles. A clear story. Visuals. References. Explaining complex exploits and glitches and how they're used. Really good voiceovers. PERFECT music choice. Emotional beats. I usually avoid Minecraft Prison videos, but this one really surprised me. It's so, so good. The story is clear and concise. The retelling of events is funny, clear and simple. The way the prisons themselves are shown are VERY well-shot. I would go so far as to say this is among the best Minecraft videos I've ever seen. That list consists of Technoblade's "Potato War 3", FitMC's "The Day 2B2T Almost Died", Doctor4t's Airship video and plenty of other amazing watches. (Don't worry, I don't watch the Dream SMP cast or Lifesteal season whatever or any of those ones. If you do, good on you, keep going.) I will DEFINITELY be rewatching this many, many, MANY times and enjoying it the same each time. Please keep making more videos like these, especially about the bugs, glitches and exploits. Much love.

I'm extremely honored to have been given a chance to work on this project, especially for as long as I did. Although my only truly substantial contribution were those mushrooms in Cell C (and quite a bit of largely unused concept art I guess), that build is by far the one I'm most proud of out of everything I've created. Seeing it used in so many shots in this video felt indescribably amazing. The Neon community has been wonderful to work with and just be around during my time in this project and I've made so many connections though it. I couldn't be more grateful to everyone involved, namely Zenos for starting this monumental project and directly inviting me in the first place, and Kenadian for documenting so much of it into this video. From starting out with absolutely no redstone experience and, admittedly, much too small of a building background to ever be considered for a project of this scale, /literally on an ipad/, to seeing this prison flourish into the unfinished but still marvelous piece of art that it has become, I've never been more glad to work on something so incredible in my life. Thank you, Neon Void, and farewell.

I am in no way IN the prison community, but I do find it neat how you all can push minecraft to its limits for the goal of one task, and then push it further to go against that goal. I love the ideologies of both minimalist and redundancy. I dont get how either side is really that much seperated from the other though. You both still build a prison, one just is repeating methods to make sure they work (like a 3rd times the charm). Ones neat for how small it is, one is neat for its scale. Seeing how a person could isolate a group and turn good natured people into ravenous dogs is insane, its like the stuff you'd see in documentaries about behavior or the prisoner experiment. Hope the community can come together as a whole.

The addition of baby shoes, never worn is honestly such a fascinating decision to add to this video and shows me that you have true depth as a story teller. I doubt you thought many would get the reference, sure, but the addition adds the layer of storytelling that makes the entire point of your philosophy - minimalism is powerful. Your story was enhanced, from the point of view from anyone who recognizes it, as you have added the extra unspoken layer of emotions that you feel as a minimalist designer by adding in that line. I'm super impressed, and I was honestly more than impressed before hearing this line. Please keep telling stories, you are actually amazing.

This dude has the best animations in the game. Also, he managed to explain over a year's worth of Minecraft prison history in just half an hour! Impressive.

Compiling all of this down to half an hour into a cinematic masterpiece must’ve been a real pain, but this is a really great video one what’s been happening for a while Also, *that portal 2 music hits too hard man, you gotta chill with those* (go crazy with them actually)

i can not comprehend how long it took to edit this masterpiece of a video. you're probably the best youtuber when it comes to minecraft prisons and that's not an over exaggeration

I feel like redundancy could be more effective if it's combined with minimalism. Adding more security measures on top of something that already works (as long as it doesn't interfere) could be a pretty effective strategy.

i love how it went to just some prison for actual prisoning, to just a prison size and design contest

He made a documentary on the entire history of prison community, included one of the best lines from Portal, became a literal spy and still managed to be informative, truly a mastermind of all times. After all, maybe not crucifying him was the right decision… We’ll see, we’ll see…

Whenever I think prisons in Minecraft are no longer interesting anyone, this man pops up in my recommended and proves me wrong. 30 minutes explaining a passion project of talented people who have invested months to achieve one thing. Thank you Kenadian. i will now go make a prison in minecraft. I don't even care how ass it will be. I will make one. And to anyone reading this wish me luck lmao.

Gotta say, I didn't see a single person in this entire story I'd call a good guy, and it really sounds like this all could have been avoided by touching some grass.

me literally going outside most in the prison community be like... i spend most of my time outside
@Mike1400a Жыл бұрын
@@KwikBRDefinitely not. I could definitely see some of the questionable decisions Zenos made and Kanadian pointed them out well but both parties got way too invested in the drama. Kanadians whole stunt of creating a fake alias just to confirm if a stupid prison was still being built and to learn secrets about a block game to get back at Zenos was like something a preschooler would do, it was really cringe to watch it all unfold and it was really odd that Kanadian was trying to pin himself and the minimalists as the objective right and moral side but then proceeded to be just as cringe and the Neon void team

@@Mike1400a then you're just a boring person.
@yushfaandromedha Жыл бұрын
@@Mike1400awhat you forgot to mention is the amount of excessive dick sucking on the both sides that made the drama even worse. This entire drama is the equivalent of either pulling a rope from both sides until it tears apart or stop pulling altogether until it coils back into clumps, and involving many unaware people in a debate of who is objectively correct only creates a divided community and a jumbled shipwreck later on.

A gargantuan video for a gargantuan prison. You told this story thoroughly and cinematically with well timed bits of humility, reflection, and technicality. The editing is amazing, and there are a lot of cameos oh my goodness This video is investigative and historical, great job dude.
