The ibex is just an altered Parker dt. I ran a Parker in a hare scramble in the NC. mountains and it's did great in the mud roots and rocks. Better than I thought would, climbed all the biggest hills with ease and barely had any wear on a drz400.

Thank you Tim. Great detailed information. I ran the Equilibrium last year and changed to the IBEX on my 300xc. For the roots, rocks and dirt of the Pacific northwest, I prefer the IBEX. I feel it has less of the squirmy feel in cornering. Both are terrific tires and popular here in Oregon and Washington

Thank you! For sure with the corning the Ibex feels more like a real knobby! Thanks for the comment and rubber side down!

Tim Robel Your detailed reviews are the best tire reviews in the industry. I appreciate the specific information regarding terrain and tire effectiveness. Most just their out an opinion with zero detail. If you included videos demonstrating your riding with certain tires, you'd be my new hero!

Wow! Thank you for the very nice comment! I will add riding and terrain videos soon! Thank you for the idea!

I know it's old, but good vid. I normally use mx tyres, but i've been having a hoot on the MT43 on one of our really rocky loops during winter. Do you know if the Kenda feels as normal as the MT43 or does it float around more like a regular trials tyre ?
@TRCa51 Жыл бұрын
I’m still running a Kenda a on my 450. Yes it is a little bit more flexible and it’s a tad bit taller tire. I believe that will ya in most conditions. Meaning that that squarish tread will always try to stay in contact with a terrain. It’s still my number one go to tire and I prefer it over the MT 43. Tires are a funny thing for people. You got a try on a few and just see what works for your style. Hopefully this helps! Any other questions feel free to hit me up!

great video, I love the equilibrium on my bike but, it is time to replace. Unlike you my feet dangle above the ground when I am riding. Would you recommend the ibex for the vertically challenged?
@Anonymous-nu1xf2 жыл бұрын
Hi Tim, have you found a better option other than the Equilibrium yet? Be curious to know. Thank you.
@TRCa512 жыл бұрын
I’m still using the Kinda equilibrium on my 450! I really like the characteristics of the tire! Everyone has their own opinion on tires and what works for them but I really like the equilibrium. I am really surprised that I haven’t taken a puncture or a sidewalk cut, but they hold up really well. Hope this helps!

What front tire do you use with the equillibrium for easy trail riding in hilly rocky terrain?
@TRCa517 ай бұрын
I use the golden 90/100/21 fatty or the Shinko fatty in the same size. both work really well and I run them with the Tubliss system. 110 psi in the inner bladder, and 5 to 7 psi, depending on terrain in the outer chamber! Game changer as it adds another inch of bump compliance suspension! Hope this helps. If it works for you please come back and let me know as tire selection is always bias!

I too ride the Kenda Equilibrium and I'm switching to Tubliss soon and was wondering what pressure do you put in the outer chamber. I have to say that I have second thoughts about Tubliss with the Equilibrium because of the soft sidewall but at the same time I love how well this tire tracks. I ride 7.5-8psi with a HD tube and it's wonderful! I ride quite slow but in very technical ''Erzberg type'' terrain and I'm trying to find the best setup as possible. What do you think about the Shinko Cheater or the Kenda Trackmaster II with Tubliss?
@TRCa517 жыл бұрын
I run 5 psi most of the time. I will go up to 6-7 psi for a long (200 plus miles) Dual Sport event. What you don't realize yet with the tube is that at 7-8 psi when you hit a square edge of serious impact the bead is breaking with a tub system. This is where the Tubliss system keeps everything locked on. So far I have been through 9 Equilibriums with no failures! I still love the set up!

Thanks Tim for the fast response. Another reason I may be looking for another tire is the height of the Equilibrium. I'm 5'10'' but want to reduce a bit my seat height.
@TRCa517 жыл бұрын
I have been told the new Motoz comp compound ws just released a couple of weeks ago. Its a lower profile and works really good! I know on the Mountain Hybrid you can ride out with a side wall cut several Like 60 miles at race speed with the Tubliss system.
@doug_EX7 жыл бұрын
Tim Robel do you think the Cheater or the Ibex would be better if ever you go flat? Does the sidewall are stiffer on those 2 tires?
@TRCa517 жыл бұрын
I have not tired the Shinko Cheeter tire but the Ibex is a lower profile and has a stiffer sidewall. That may be what your looking for!
@adambatchelder41217 жыл бұрын
I run the perllie mt 43 in the summer and the equilibrium all winter as it works amazingly well in the snow. Tublis of course 5,6,7 pounds
@Superdisco199 Жыл бұрын
would you say the MT43 or the Kenda has the softer sidewall and more squirmish behaviour ?
@adambatchelder4121 Жыл бұрын
@@Superdisco199 probably the kenda , but its also softer rubber so is more aggressive at the same psi

amazing knowledge!!!! Now please help me! I need to replace my rear tire (I have shinko cheater 505 rear and 546 front) they are amazing but i am 5'8 and they are high profile so they raise my 450 six days by an additional inch i am running tubliss and i love it...what would be the alternative? meaning low profile alternative with strong carcass i hear dunlop at81 or sedona 907 and now ibex again i just want to have a good tire that works well with tubliss but not high profile since i am well fucking small i do sand, rocks, muds mainly...a little bit of everything thank you so much for your help in advance
@TRCa516 жыл бұрын
I would give the Kenda IBEX a try! Low profile and works great in the rocks, sand mud! Thanks for the positive comment! Report back please and let us know what you chose and how it worked for you!
