On the marriage thing, assuming you live in California you should be fine. CA just passed a proposition in November that amends the state constitution to allow same-sex marriage, so even if it gets revoked on a federal level, state-wise you can still get married.
@thebekfestclub2 күн бұрын
If they repeal it in the Supreme Court like they did roe v wade that would overrule any state constitution I’m pretty sure. Same thing happened when obergefell first got ruled on. There were some states that still had laws in their state constitution that outlawed gay marriage but that was overruled when the Supreme Court decision dropped
@xandermarcus2 күн бұрын
@@thebekfestclubrepealing the protection wouldn't automatically make it illegal everywhere. It *would* make it vulnerable to a federal ban that can then overrule any state law.
@alxandramae2 күн бұрын
False. Federal law overrules state law, so no same-sex couples could get married anywhere in America. Take marijuana as an example, you can still be arrested for it at anytime even if it is legal in your state (they have bigger problems tho so it’s not policed in legal states). If a couple is married and same-sex marriage gets overturned their marriage license WOULD revert to the state law of the state they got their marriage license approved in and would be federally accepted. So, if living in California for example, a couple would still be married. HOWEVER, because federal law overrules state law, no new couples will be allowed to marry. And even if they somehow manage to “legally” marry in California (not possible, they will 99% be turned away at the courthouse), it doesn’t hold up nationally or federally or on taxes. It’s rlly sad I think I’m gonna move to Ireland and go find my wife there. Being a gaybo is hard😕 ***edit ^^^ also what Xander said is very true. However, the “republican” (loose term) party does have the president, the senate, and the house, so it is highly likely that a federal ban will be put into place in the next 4 years. Yay project 2025 !! (Kill me)

My guess (hope) is that it wasn't a person doing it. Just... AI.. Which of course is programmed with human biases that suck. But also, Shayne has a Wikipedia page, while none of the other smosh people do. So my theory is that whatever algorithm does those things automatically gave the input that her connection to him was how they were known, having it override things. I don't post about my partner on social media because i feel like that's how we can keep our relationship sacred, specially bc in this day in age I feel like so many relationships are performative and unrealistic in social media. We tell everyone in our personal lives about each other, so it's not a secret. I'm absolutely not hating on anyone who does post their s/o on social media, nor am I projecting that everyone who does is performative. Everyone has the right to do what is sacred for their relationship, and I don't believe that posting or not posting is the singular indicator of how good a relationship is. I also just don't like people in my business and it would be wrong for someone to assume that just because I don't post my partner means I don't love them, but it's also not my burden to bear their emotions. Also love Shayne and Courtney ❤
@judysm953 күн бұрын
Same. I still have an account but i also don't post (my last post is over 6 years old) and have it because fb/ig are some of my only ties to certain family, or IG is a great way to find local events and restaurants personally lol. Basically i don't share any of my life, but sharing my relationship specifically feels like an invitation for people to provide feedback or make assessments about it. I would never feel like I'm not being even a little bit performative.

My wife and I had a small ceremony with immediate family and a few long time friends with a dinner afterwards when we got married in 2001, and then a larger wedding with a reception when we got married according to NY State in 2011. The smaller ceremony is a much better memory. Both my wife and I regret having the larger reception because of family drama having nothing to do with us taking over the memories. We will always celebrate our original anniversary, no matter what governments say about same-sex marriage. To each their own, but for us its a celebration of a couples love, not an event that puts you in debt or a forum for relatives to get in each other's faces.

For your door woes - you’ve got a latch (on the door) and a strike plate with a hole behind it (on the wall) which interact to shut the door, essentially the latch isn’t falling into the hole! It’ll likely be because of humidity or door movement over time (they’re not perfect) but you can often loosen the two little screws in the strike plate and move it a little into the room the door swings into and it’ll resolve the issue :) A general handyman or carpenter in your life would be the people to call for the fix if you’re not comfortable messing around with it yourselves! Wish you the best on getting it solved as it can be both annoying and not so secure! Ps great pod :)

Say "I look really pretty right now". The extreme version is bridezilla but the traditional version of "this is my day" is I feel like a lot of women just give themselves a one time permission to love themselves for the day - to compliment themself, to accept compliments, to be the center of attention without shame, to COMMAND attention

I'm actually really big on having hard copies of movies, one of the big reasons is trying to hop from stream to stream to find a movie that was there a week ago and then it got sold to Peacock and then I got sold back to HBO. But also I fully believe that we are going to have some type of Technology shut down within the next 10 years or so, so I at least want to make sure I have all my favorite movies saved and a DVD player LOL. 11:07

My sisters and I watched Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies and were so sad when it was canceled and deleted. One of my sisters hadn't even had a chance to catch up on all the episodes. Jordan and Courtney might be happy to know that it became available for rent and purchase on Prime Video after a while. It was a easy decision for me to buy it so I could watch it again in the future.

10:49 I got so mad that the Grinch movie with Jim Carrie moved platforms every year that I just bought the DVD and honestly great idea. A DVD costs one month of a streaming subscription and it never goes away

I’m 100% convinced marriage or mortgage is for people who can definitely afford both but they just want a free wedding planner.

Not going to lie, I was one of those people who zoomed in on Courtney’s hand in a few photos to see if she was wearing an engagement ring😂 so happy for Shayne and Courtney❤️
