For most of my adult life I've had rough ragged callouses on my heels, so bad that they would wear holes through the bed sheets. I was sanding them done once a week. Often I'd have bleeding. After about 6 months on Keto I noticed that I hadn't sanded my heels recently and now over 3 years of Keto and I think I might have sanded them once or twice in that time. I also can now go out in the sun shirtless and not burn. I was never able to tan, always burn, even with just 20 minutes in the sun. Now I can work all day in the sun with no shirt or sun screen.

I am 60 now and for about 30 years I had a large mole on my temple (seborrhoeic wart) which I guessed I was just stuck with. Switched to a Keto diet last year which evolved into Carnivore by the end of the year. During the Carnivore stage this mole suddenly started to change and within a few weeks had totally disappeared. This was the most striking improvement in a few skin issues I had and I couldn't really believe it!

I'm 74. I eat the keto diet. But I added 3 things that have really improved my skin, hair and nails. I take a collagen supplement (with 5 types). I take 3,000 mg vitamin C which helps the body make collagen and I take a teaspoon of olive oil twice per day. All of the dry, scaly patches on my skin went away. For the first time in my life I no longer have cracked, dry heals.

Too much vitamin C can turn into oxalate and lead to kidney stones, build up in other tissues. This is why humans lost the ability to convert glucose into vitamin C so many thousands of years ago, per nutritionist Bart Kay. When a person greatly reduces their consumption of carbs, the need for vitamin C drops drastically. Carbs (glucose) competes with vitamin C uptake in cells. Remove the competition (glucose/carbs), require less vitamin C.

😊 Hi! I'm 54, (55 in December)...I usually shock people when I tell them my age. I went "All Natural" last year....my hair is now grey. With a little brown in it. I get lots of compliments too! I used to have my friend from work dye it dark brown, we would actually "split" the bottle of hair dye. Lol...we both had short to med length hair. Her hair is much coarser and mine is very fine.....but mine "sucked up" more hair dye! She just needed her roots done, mine was all over coverage. With circumstances ( Quarantine Lockdowns, and family health issues in her family) we stopped dyeing our hair. When hair salons reopened I told them to cut off all the brown and leave the grey. I am about 100 pounds overweight too ( not that you would guess that. Even Doctors and Nurses are shocked to see my weight on the scale! So.....I don't do the "Suntan" thing, never smoked, didn't do "drugs", drank alcohol somewhat in my twenties and part of my thirties.....never married or had children, ( always wanted both, but it never happened.) But marriage can happen at any age! There is still hope! (It's just Hard to find a Good Godly Man! Most of them are either too young or too old or already taken! Lol. 😊 Menopause came and went... 😊 Basically I never get guessed my age or wright. Most people guess me from late twenties ( when I had my dark brown hair) to mid to late thirties. (With my All Natural hair color.) And you can see plainly that I'm overweight....most people think, 200 to 210/215? Some are probably being kind. 😁 180 to 210 to 250 to 230-240, to 260 to 272...down to 241.....back up to 250-260. Then Whammy! Back up to 272! What I weighed 13 years ago! I list and gained about 30-35 pounds.....yoyo dieting. Since high school. 1985 I was about 175-180. Then up and down for DECADES. ( but I can still book up and down the halls at the Hospital, pushing a heavy metal food cart.....like Speedy Gonzalez! It's just getting harder as I put that weight back on! Very frustrating.... Arthritis and ADD doesn't help things either. I am a "Sugar-Carb-Sweet-Addict" and my mental issues (ADD and Anxiety plus OCD and Sometimers) makes it hard to focus on the plan.....to go Carnivore, then Keto. The "Sugar/Carb" detox is my downfall. Especially since last year. Working so short handed, doing the work of two or Three people, I give in to the Addict. Having little to no support system and bouts of Depression, I get overwhelmed and revert back to my "norm".....what's familiar. But.....I am watching as many inspirational KZbin people as I can who have lost large amounts of weight and gotten physically and Mentally healthy doing keto and or carnivore. Doctors and Nutritionists and every day people too. I hope to be able to post good things happening to me "in time"! 🙏💪👍😊

@@angelabowman1614 look up Kelly Hogan Carnivore on KZbin. You can do it!! I'm have an extreme addiction to carbs and sugar. My birthday was in June, my husband got me my favorite Carmel Cake which is an old popular cake in the South. Our friends are mostly Yankees in this military town and didn't eat it. within three days I had devoured the entire cake!! I get started and cannot stop. But I did. I made up my mind to do keto/carnivore two weeks ago. I cut out carbs except berries first then went to All meat with spinach salads and allow myself about three blackberries daily if I must. I intermittent fast until lunch and I eat meat until I'm full and usually it last until supper around 6. If I must snack (but rarely) I eat plain pork rinds. I keep my self busy to keep my mind off eating but usually I'm so full it's not an issue. yesterday I ate 5 lightly scrambled eggs and threw in fresh spinach and a bit of cheese right before the eggs were done. At supper I ate a huge piece of fried salmon with a sauce I made with a bit of butter, sour cream, Greek yogurt and some spices mixed up. If you feel you can intermittently fast, just shrink your feeding window about 15 to 30 minutes every day so that you are not longer needing breakfast. You can do it and you will break your sugar addiction after a while. Keep reminding yourself how great you will feel in a few weeks. 🙏😊

I went ketogenic around 15 years ago, mostly because it helped me with narcolepsy. Right away some dental problems cleared up. I had normal sleep without narcolepsy. Rashes cleared up. No more yeast infections. I was surprised to see that I lost weight. I had made up my mind never again to diet to lose weight, because I always ultimately failed. Over time it has really surprised me to see people my age that I haven't seen in a long time and hear them say, "Why do you look younger than me?" I've been told everyone seems to age but me. What witchery did I do? I tried carnivore, but without green leafy vegetables I don't function as well. That's just me. Sometimes I think I was fortunate to be be more or less forced into the keto lifestyle. I never expected this benefit from keto. Keto is also good for bone health and muscle mass.

This really makes me feel good becase for 30 years or so I have lived this lifestyle despite being told not to do so. My dad was health conscious but his idea of health foods were whole grains, vegetables and lots of fruits. He would sit and eat three whole mangoes at a time! I hate anything sweet but love fats especially cod liver oil which everyone else seemed to hate. If I had it I would sit down and eat lard right from the container but when mom started using Crisco I found it disgusting. The few times I made popcorn I wanted it cooked in coconut oil and saturated with butter with plenty of salt. The "air popper" made me hate popcorn. Hamburgers just did not taste good without fat so I always went for the cheap 30 percent fat ground beef. I always enjoyed my seafood deep fried in lard without any batter and do so to this day. In my home living by myself you will find the refrigerator full of leafy greens, eggs from my ducks, homemade yogurt and tubs of lard I rendered along with beef tallow. Freezer is full of butter, beef, chicken, ducks pork and fish I have caught. You won't find bread, or any baked goods in my kitchen, In my twenties I came up with a theory that since sugar causes foods to brown that is you had high blood sugar your skin would brown and age especially in the sun. Despite working outside most of my life I look pretty good for a 52 year old.

Last year I discovered a book called "EASY WAY TO STOP SMOKING" by Allen Carr. I read the book in 4 days. I stopped smoking on August 11th of 2019. Very happy to say, I have recently had my first year Anniversary of gaining common sense about smoking. I highly recommend this book to anyone that wants to stop smoking. I'm now ketovore and have seen great improvements, off of three meds (still take metformin). I have noticed a great improvement in my skin. The most noticable is the liver spots have almost dissapeared. Thanks for all the great honest advice.

It took about 2 years but Keto eating reversed the color of my gray-white hair. It's now growing in sandy brown-blonde like it did in my teens & twenties. But yes, facial lines have also changed dramatically, keto erased about 10 years from 55+. In fact, a 38 year old guy just asked me out & the seriously confused look on his face when I told him my age was priceless. 😂

Hi It's me I am back LOL. A few years back I tried keto and then switch to high carb potato diet. I am back because 4 weeks ago after 9 months of doing low carb I had severe diabetic symptoms. N between insurances and unable to go to the doctor I immediately got rid of all sources of sugar that includes hugh glycemic veg and all fruits. I have lost 25 lbs in 4 weeks My brain fog is gone, the skin rash, the headaches the dizziness the sweating all gone Diabetes runs in my family. I used a meter and had out of sight glucose numbers 4 weeks ago. I am down to normal now. We shall see what the dr says after my new insurance starts in October. This time keto is more enjoyable because I am doing more eggs less cheese, healthier fats basically doing clean keto as much as my budget allows. I haven't had bacon or steak in this round because too much beef doesn't sit well with me I do better with eggs, fish and poultry. Anyway back to watching and learning from you doc. Just catching up on some of your older videos. I have been carnivore x 3 weeks at this point (Aug/22). I have Hashimoto's and was referred to a Rheumatologist. I saw him about 5 days ago. He did a full exam and commented how flexible I was (which can be from Hashi's) and how great I looked. He said that several times and then looked at my age again and said "Wow you are 56 and you look great!" And to top it off I don't have any signs of RA which made me happy. I told him I had switched to a carnivore diet and he said whatever I am doing to keep doing it. That most of his patients can barely walk and if anything changed to give him a call. I have been sick for over 7 yrs with Hashi's plus other chronic diseases, I have not felt this good since before 2015. If you are reading my comment, give carnivore a try. Do it for 3 months and if you don't feel better (which would be a surprise) you can go back to your old way of eating. I have such a decrease in the amount of pain of have that I have already started decreasing my pain meds. What do you have to lose? I thank Dr Berry for all he is doing. I am a huge believer in keto and it’s benefits and currently am following it. Glycation is something I learned about awhile back and being over 50 and having been a sugar addict most of my life, I am sure it has affected my collagen production. I think the only thing that has kept it from being worse is good skincare including sunscreen. I know the focus on this video is to explain how sugar negatively effects the skin which I agree with, however I want to clarify a few things that hopefully will be helpful. There are two skincare ingredients that have been studied and proven to make a difference in your skin. I’m not talking about one study from the manufacturer but dozens of independent studies as well and they are L Ascorbic Acid (the pure form of Vitamin C) and tretinoin (the Rx form of vitamin A). There are many more ingredients that have smaller studies but are proving to be beneficial as well including Niacinamide and antioxidants like CoQ10 and Resveratrol as well as superoxide Dismutase. I think the antioxidants are important since it seems like without fruits we aren’t getting enough internally. Which is a question for you, do greens alone provide enough antioxidants we need to fight free radicals internally? I would really appreciate knowing more about that. Thanks for all you do, I’ve been following your show since you began and continue to support your channel.

One thing one can see is that all vegan girls hate humans all together. they pretend they care of animals but when you get to know them they are all feminist and hateful women who state eating meat is a male activity because all men are born murders, rapists etc. you name it ... that to me does not sound neither as a very scientific explanation to have reasons exclusively eating plants nor a very happy lifestyle... but just being trendy and going to the opposite side of them to make a point is also not a very bright and well thought out solution I think ! I prefer a non-political diet! ... to reach that you need to listen to a lot of people and let things sink in so you can make sense out of every aspect in the end! ... but is just me, I just happen to not hate all other people, including the vegan-teen drama girls in my old college 🤷🏼‍♂️🤣

Both are right. Animal protein turns on mtor which inhibits longevity in a lot of organisms but we humans are different because many of us actually die of frailty and to protect against frailty you need to build muscle. Muscle you build by turning mtor on by eating high quality animal protein and doing weight training

I ate a largely red meat and egg diet for most of my life (42-44 years) and ended up developing an allergy to red meat and egg whites. Now if I have 1 or 2 bites of steak, I'm in bed with crushing fatigue for 36-60 hours. I can have the tiniest bit of egg white on occasion without too much fatigue or soreness in my lymph nodes, but not an omlette. NOTE: I was not trying to eat any rigid, absurd "diet" I just loved steak for dinner, boiled eggs for breakfast, and the weekly Sunday brunch omlette. There is such a thing as TOO MUCH of a good thing, but it was delicious while it lasted. Now I can only eat chicken, turkey and fish (but no shellfish as I've now developed an allergy to those, too). I'm 53 now, and just waiting for the day when I develop an allergy to chicken, turkey and fish, too.

I've been mostly carnivore my whole life. I noticed huge changes in my skin when I quit drinking soda and took the horrible seed oils out of my diet. I even make my own mayonnaise from farm fresh eggs with a very simple recipe from the French cooking academy right here on KZbin. I also make my own bread, and anything else that requires dough, such as pizza, calzones, etc. I don't eat much of it, but if I'm going to splurge it's as healthy and tasty as it can be.

For better skin, include some collagen in your diet. The main types are roman numeral one, two, and three. (type I, type II, type III). I'm not sure which one is best for the skin. It takes about 3 months for your skin to get completely replaced, so take some collagen every day for 3 months.

@@toniastone3460 Thank you doctor Tonia Stone! My friends have asked me if I had any botox injections. I have NOT had any. You underestimate the body's ability to rebuild and restore itself. I have simply been taking collagen. Type I and type III are good for skin, nails, and hair. Type II helps build new bones. Although Dr. Berry recommends not buying any collagen. Instead, he recommends that we get collagen from the food we eat.

I have used oregano oil on my scalp with great results. I have been eating keto for about one year. A few months into keto i started treating the scalp area that my dermatologist has treated for skin cancer. I have had two surgeries and other treatments on this area only to return to the doctor with more suspect areas. With the daily application of oregano oil i had amazing results from this topical treatment. I took photos of the process. The skin turned orange, scabbed and eventually peeled. I have treated the area repeatedly after each time it healed. I showed the photos to my doctor. He said it looked like my immune system was stimulated to attack the damaged cells. I now have a scalp that no longer reacts to the oregano oil with the exception of a few small spots. I expect that that too may stop wth a few more treatments. Even the scaring from the surgeries has been reduced. So, I would disagree that no topical application can make any improvement. And it only costs a few dollars. That having been said, I do not disagree with the overall point about creams and lotions.

I tolerated it very well. Here's the problem: with the weight loss I'm seeing a 'crepeness' in parts of my body, arms, neck. What can I do? Can you do a video on this subject. It seems to be a drawback to weightloss.

I'm sorry but it's absolutely true! Vegans age drastically faster. And even though we're not all vegan our diet today is mostly plant based anyway. Might explain obesity, disease/illness, and premature aging. I'm not fully carnivore and do admit that I have great genes ,but since I upped my consumption in animal based foods such as eating more beef, pork, seafood, eggs, liver, butter and cooking with ghee, I did notice my skin doesn't feel as dry anymore. I already didn't have too many wrinkles but my skin definitely feels more supple even now that's it's winter here in the Midwest.

It was told to me through an ultrasound that only half my thyroid is functioning and the other half has died(?). So does that mean I need to continue my medications for life? I have asked this question many times and I can't seem to get straight answer. Can I work my way off my medication? Your reply would be much appreciated.

@Marie K Check his other videos...I'm pretty sure he has videos on this. His wife has/had the same autoimmune disease and I think she came off her medication. If I were you I would get a second opinion about half your thyroid being dead. Years ago a doctor told me that I needed to remove my gallbladder so I did but I wish I knew then what I do now and I would have never removed it. I would have done things to heal it. You actually need your gallbladder contrary to many peoples thoughts and beliefs and doctors who I suspect want to remove it for the money. Tap the bell and select all notifications and the next time he does a live questions and answers video you could ask him that specific question. Dig deep and keep researching and remember you are your own best advocate. Good luck to you on finding your answers.

@Ginger Hudock Drs have not helped me on this issue or at least get an answer as to how and why my thyroid is is damaged but most importantly can it be corrected. I just do not want to be taking "medication" forever. I take care of myself in a way to never have to take medication. I just do not want to take myself off of it and end up with more problems. My doctor first prescribed nature throid but I cannot get it anywhere here where I live, so I got the next best thing after taking myself off of Synthroid.

Right now my face is swollen and I'm thinking it might be tostitos corn chips, so that's out. I guess I should stop all processed foods. Hard to do. Too much meat seems to stop up the bowels. Struggling with what to eat. I'll figure it out. 🙏🏼😊

@Patricia Clarkson in my experience, it takes a bit of time for one’s digestive system to adapt to any change in eating. I cut out almost all carbs for a few months, and I had some loose movements for a few days. Some people get the runs; some people get constipated. Have you tried a gradual change so your gut flora have more time? Yes, quit the tostitos! They’re terrible for you! Industrially processed “vegetable” oils! GMO corn! To say nothing of how they spike your blood sugar. Processed food is addictive, on purpose. Food scientists work in labs in the big food manufacturers to MAKE THEM addictive on purpose. (I had to give up dairy several years ago; I still miss cheese... Couldn’t digest it any more.)I wish you well on your quest for better health!
