Agreed “The feelin of an apocalypse happening but nothin is awkward” is one of the best lines I’ve ever heard. Its weird thinking about it. We live in a world surrounded by tragedy and a lot of us are lost. Yet the world keeps spinning and we keep going. Waiting for the day for something to change or for someone to rise against the powers that be? Idk man. Lot a food for thought in this song. I could write for hours ab it tbh. U gotta feel for Kendrick on this one too man. He tried to change the culture from within using his music. Yet it went nowhere. This song encapsulates that perfectly. He put everything out there. Like he’s screaming and nobody listens. We’d rather be blissfully ignorant and Mr morale seems to be his full realization and idealization of this. Watching his evolution in hindsight is beautiful.

This clip is like suicidal ideation in your mind and damaging loneliness. I used to feel that way in my younger days... helpless, blindness to the positivity, mental armageddon, self-scarification... Exactly. Sonically I don’t think it would but this is definitely where the seeds for mmatbs were planted. This theme is scattered throughout Damn but it’s most talked ab in this song. But yes this is Same overall themes as Mmatbs. Mmatbs was just a more fully realized version of this idea. Hence mmatbs being a bit more sympathetic where as this song is coming from a place of anger and resentment towards his fans and the culture as a whole. U can see how his perspective on this theme evolved through the years.
