I just love how this song shows you two perspectives of love. Kendrick’s verse shows us that love is blind, it didn’t matter to him that Sherane was a wh*re or a cheater. Sure he was a simp, but what mattered to him was his love for Sherane. Drake’s verse shows you the dangers of infatuation. Drake found Sherane’s East African complexion to be sexy and even says he would rather fix things because Sherane is beautiful and sexy on the outside. Drake is attracted to the physical aspects of Sherane and that’s his motivation for love. Like man GKMC’s tracks were way ahead of their time when it came to the storytelling and verses. I wish we had this Drake again.

I think that they both represent two aspects in the relationship, one emotional, as represented by kdot, and the physicality or sexual chemistry represented by Drake. The combination of the two highlights what makes up a relationship between two people and makes the song special in that degree. Not to overlook Janet's alluring vocals, both soft and passionate. I'd go on, but i think I've summed up my take on this classic.
