This song was mostly made to show off his skills and what he could do lyrically.

Fun fact: The reason it feels like there is no introduction into the song and it uncomfortably goes on without release is just go along with the concept of Rigamortis. Rigamortis is when a dead body begins to stiffen up and all of the fluids within the body begin to leak out. The point of it is express that feeling through rapping in a continous flow that could drive someone to feel a bit uncomfortable as well as just to show off his rapping without taking a breath skills.

The point was that it didnt take much for Kendrick to be better than your fav rapper. No extra beat mixing no super complex hooks. BARS + Beat = all you need. This is also early early before dr dre kendrick. I figured you would like the part you actually did like which was the last "verse". This was a sont basically stating kendrick doesnt need to do much even so early in his career. The rest o the "section 80" mixtape is not the same production wise and dope as hell

I hope you don't take my comments as hate, because I'm trying to be respectful and constructive. If you guys wouldn't mind I'd love for you to check out some childish Gambino. First I'll recommend "life: the biggest troll" because it's decent lyrically and I'd love to gauge your reaction to it to see which gambino songs you'd like, plus i mean... best song title ever, right? Because he dies a fuck ton of genre switching. He's a rapper, but the last album he released was literally a funk/rnb/rock album. No rap in it at all. So I want to see your initial take on him. It would mean a lot to me if you checked it out.

So allow me to assist you a little in what you should listen for. At least in my opinion. I like you guys and you attention to detail earned a sub from me. Especially the bearded cynic. Breath Control, alliteration techniques, obviously heavy wordplay, some heavily imbued with slang that may not be familiar to you, which he seamlessly interweaves these with more notable turns of phrases/notions. The beat had a purpose for driving the tension, which did increase towards the second verse. Not to insult your criteria of judgement, but there are sub techniques you may not be used to unless you’re at least basically versed in rap. Btw it’s more of a HOOK than a chorus. To properly appreciate the content of this song you’d have to understand that this essentially is an attack on other rappers, as he constantly repeated the result of his efforts, the verbal evisceration of his competition. This is usually a point of contention in this genre, if not rival gang members or any other oppressive force, either laced in a bar of a song or just its entire composition. The beat is about the only thing I feel no need to defend or explain but it does have purpose. I understand the lack of variation being critiqued as such. One thing to truly appreciate is the difference in his approach, primarily in contrast to his peers who usually rap about the mundane money drugs sex murder.

Hey to answer your question about why you on the left is getting most of the "hate". And please actually think about this because this is exactly why your getting hate. Your tone... it's all tone. Your very condescending and a bit pretentious when talking about music that your audience knows more about. They know this stuff and understand the nuances of this music much more than you, and yet you tend to ignore that and even insult the people who like you, all for what seems like a desire to be smarter than them. They don't care if you don't like the song they like. They care about you acting as if your taste in music is superior than theirs when it's not. It's just your opinion. Give your audience more credit. They aren't singling you out fir no reason. Meet them half way, and not just act like you are. I hope you see and consider this.

I don't care if I sound smarter than anybody, I also don't think my musical tastes are better or superior to anybody else's. these are my reactions to songs. They are genuine. I can't act another way. I'm not sure if you are referencing specific videos or instances. I don't want to upset people, but it happens sometimes. We also pick negative comments to respond to because people seem to enjoy the intros. We don't bust balls or condescend to anybody that hasn't gone out of their way to post an ignorant or rude comment. Pete also typically has similar things to say as I do. Also man why are you guys being so mean for no reason? You know what a vocal minority is. Stop latching onto the hate and then attributing it all to your audience. And how would saying your not very welcoming to my genre be hate? That sounds like someone who just wants you to be less hateful. Look I get that your just being yourselves and your doing all this drunk, but come on guys. This stuff means a lot to people and reading your comments I see a lot of people who are excited to introduce you to the things they love. Can't you meet them with the same respect they are giving you by sharing them? Getting hate on videos isn't unique to you guys, there's nothing special or interesting about people being mean in the comments. It's the internet. But I bet you'd get less of it if you didn't attack everyone just to get back at the few that are saying rude things to you. I really like your channel and I hope you can react to more music, but the way you paint your audience and how you insult people's tastes sometimes genuinely bums me out.
@MetalheadsReactToHipHop
@MetalheadsReactToHipHop 5 жыл бұрын
We are not doing all this drunk first of all. And as far as being disrespectful, we have never ever been disrespectful to anyone. I made the genre comment because saying we are being disrespectful to the whole genre of rap/hip hop is absurd. I grew up listening to rap and we both genuinely appreciate a lot of rap artists. What this person was basically saying was they were hurt we didn’t like their favorite song. We are going to be honest if we don’t like something and we use the rubric to try and explain why we don’t like it. And we know how haters and the internet works. We are not attacking anyone, we are just calling out people for the stupid shit they say, but really even if we call someone out we are just having fun with it and never harbor any ill will towards anyone. Ultimately this is not some act it’s just us being us and if you don’t like it you are free to not follow us. The main point of this channel is to reconnect w hip hop and discover new artists we like. Also we don’t ever mean to insult anyone’s taste. Taste is taste, even me and Chris have wildly different tastes when it comes to metal. So ultimately I have no idea what you are trying to see. We are being honest that’s all we can do.

Also I'm sorry for all the comments, but I agree with you on this song. Although this isn't the full song, it has a whole other verse and it's better than the previous ones. I don't know why this isn't the full song. It's a really old kendrick song and it's very strong when it comes to his flow, delivery, and lyrics, but the horn and bass exclusive beat kills it. Its good as a way to show off his ability but it's not a good song. It's more like a demo of him and the beat is just there so it's not in acapella. If that makes sense.

Really sad thing man. From what I read he had turned his life around and was doing a lot for the community. Tragic!

The backbone of rap is often times the lyrics. I really think you underestimate the skill and genius in these lyrics and flow, with all the literary elements; alliteration and such. The multi syllable rhymes and the 'run-on-sentence' bars that rival the legend Biggie Smalls. If you can't appreciate the lyrics, I don't think you'll like many rap songs. Nonetheless, keep doing you. Cheers.
