This is exactly the point, no wonder he dissed both of them because of it, the song was Drake tryna have the last say by having them on his song, as soon as Dot wasn't with it, Drake definitely goaded J Cole to go at him. Also, FPS is the fakest thing, because Drake allows Cole to say the big 3 line, but in Push Ups he says "you ain't in no big 3" then even in family matters "you're right about fuck the big 3" All of this to say, Kendrick didn't attack them unprovoked, FPS is a snaky and manipulative song, they got what they deserved

Hot take: I think what Dot did could be the best thing for Cole. Really was tough love. As an underappreciated artist, Cole used his feature run to set himself apart from Dot and Drake bc his albums weren't holding up to his counterparts in the court of public opinion; it put him in the convo, but never at the top, always #2. His feature run filled a void, he sacrificed conceptual pieces for traditional bars/lyrical exhibitions that was still artistic and dope, however, requires a high volume to sustain, and can be more entertaining than impactful if without artistic intent. Not saying Dot will deserve credit, but I think recent events may inspire Cole to revert to 'Concept' in The Fall Off, where it won't be just another lyrical exercise, but a deep dive into Cole's fundamental thesis: Choosing Yourself even if it means being underappreciated. (Also, I use underappreciated loosely. Cole being in consistent convo of the big 3 is solidified, he's just often put at 2 even though his feature run was changing that narrative).

But the industry is so competitive and media and fans always pitted them against each other, it made it impossible to work on the project together. All in all, hip-hop lost a great project because those leaked and a few released songs JCole and Kendrick did together were gold and I wish we got to hear more. I feel like Cole always felt some type of way about people comparing him to Kendrick and putting him above Cole, so when Kendrick went silent after Damn, Cole thought it's a chance to climb higher and sent some subliminals here and there. Kendrick let it slide because it was still competitive and he's the same way. However, after Cole started not only collab with Drake all the time but involve Kendrick's name in the conversation when Kendrick didn't want anything to do with Drake, that's when Kedrick decided to step in. @@aarong3000bro I didn’t find no real news that schoolboy q went up to him and told him to sit out.. imo I really think that he caught on and knew that real smoke was for Drake.. Cole and Kendrick “fake” beef was only music frfr.. but now we know that Kendrick and drake didn’t like each other personally 😂😂.. Cole sat back and seen it.. and was ohhhh.. he want that fade wit drake frfr lol.. Cole didn’t lose no respect from nobody.. he was smart and let men be men 😂.. that drake and Kendrick pot been boiling for 12yrs straight.. this was supposed to been happened but 🤷🏽♂️.. @@aarong300020v1 narrative BEEN die.. drake only problem that he addressed all them none factors.. his only REAL problem and threat was Kendrick.. point blank period.. by it was a good move by drake tho.. he was using that as a crutch in the battle.. he had people saying he was getting “jumped” and “attacked” by 5 mfs.. so it looked like he was Thanos 😂 but whole time he only needed to make all those diss tracks bout Kendrick.. And Kendrick never used all them other people after “Like that” came out.. he didn’t put nobody else in it or nothing.. but drake ego and pride got his ahh whooped.. he was tryna “Lil Bro” Kendrick and then Kendrick beat him bad.. like real bad.. to the point mfs on social media feeling bad for him 5 months later 😂😂😂.. you know how bad you have to beat someone that the person you was rooting for was looking like a bully? Us Kendrick fans was feeling bad for drake alil bit 😂😂 that’s a bad beating.. but drake wasn’t battling a 20v1 that’s why that narrative DIED months ago!!

Cause Cole doesn’t have beef wit Kendrick especially not over a verse that’s in the natural spirit of hip hop. Cole has love for Kendrick, that’s why he backed out & he only dissed him cause his folks was begging him to do so. Cole didn’t feel a way about that verse Drakes bitch ass did

@@cnp215I think Schoolboy Q did and the only reason I'm saying this I think was because of Kendricks black air forces/party just died track. It seems calculated that he was tired of the type of rap music in the mainstream that's been coming out and really the best way he saw to maybe change that direction was take down the person most responsible for it. And that's Drake. Cole doesn't really fit the same style as Drake if anything he's more similar to/the type of rap that Kendrick approves of and wants to be the mainstream. So I think Schoolboy Q knew from Kendrick that this was his end goal so advised Cole to back out

I think u misunderstood that line. Cole basically said it’s not coming out cuz the powers that be won’t let it come out cuz of the type of rappers they are

The more I look back and think about it I feel like there were people behind the scenes on Cole’s side casing the static because the things Cole said about Kendrick Drake echoed the same sentiments at the time and even now listening to 7min drill smh

It's funny cuz I literally have never heard music channels, podcasts, etc asking about if any of them are the big three or which of them are the best lol. J Cole I feel is not nearly known like kendrick and drake. Drake is fun, kendrick is great. He's the best musician and artist. I was mesmerized by his "I" SNL performance like a decade ago, totally blown away by the passion and performance.

Cole apologized cause he really did feel bad and also knew k dot wanted to work with him but he low key brushed him off. He wasn’t really feeling k dot like dot was feeling him as far as friendship is concerned. Also Cole knew he didn’t wanna go back and forth with Kendrick cause although Cole is so dope and better than Drake lyrically he know he would meet his match with Kendrick and dot feel a way about him and Cole know it.

I feel like it's Cole's issue. Every song seemed like it was produced by him. On paper Cole would be paid more and mentally if he's writing a verse or hook and making the best that's hard work. It would be 🔥 if they do it.
