i said X started in 86 and back then it wasnt about who came out first cause anyways hip hop back then wasnt that mainstream period.. back then u were known on the block, city, state, coast just by battling and having mixtapes... thats what it was about back then and DMX made a name for him self as one of the best battle rappers in both east and west coast.... even Kurupt himself didnt want anything to do with DMX when he stepped up to a battle Kurupt backed out it occurred in Vegas do research

I'm a fan of Kendrick but he's not the greatest lyricist IMO. I think he's the best SONGWRITER out of Black Hippy because the first thing that caught my attention when I first started listening to Kendrick was how well developed, written and catchy his hooks and songs overall were. But yeah, he's right Ab-Soul is a better lyricist than Kendrick. Schoolboy Q and Jay Rock sorta on that Gangsta/Conscious rap, but Kendrick definitely sticks out the most. He's different. u need to do ur homework on the difference of Mainstream Hip Hop and Underground Hip Hop DMX was straight out of the Underground and that was his Nick name when he first came out at 1991... X was a battle rapper he battled everyone all over USA... back then u made ur name thru battling u didnt even need to have an album or a single out to be known.... the respected and known ones knew who DMX was before he came out with his first LP in 98..

Q used to spit like KDot and Soul but he switch his style up. As for my favorite member in Black Hippy Jay Rock, his style is Gangsta Rap, he can spit like KDot and Soul from time to time but he not on their level. So with all that said. My opinion, Rock>KDot>Soul>Q. only because Rock my fav but KDot is the best hands down.
