I think sequential made a great platform with the Pro3 and Take 5. The rev2, P6, OB6 are wonderful, but with the keyboard; they could be just a bit too big for a lot set ups. The bang-for-buck is real with Sequential. To my ears, they seem to be the only readily-accessible analog synth manufacturer, trying to push away from the same-ol-same-ol sonic bread & butter expectation, while still allowing you to coax out that classic bread & butter. Edit to add: I don’t always expect onboard fx to be stellar, and I do wish Sequential could allow for firmware updates/swaps to change effects they develop later on, for free or moderate cost. I also think that it’s odd, that all the parameter changes don’t appear on-screen with the take 5, the pro3 and Rev2 have that feature… maybe a slight oversight with the first firmware ?

I was partially interested in this, but I ended up getting the Jupiter xm for the value. I have a rev 2 expanded and I rarely use all 16 voices, I think with 2 note chords and triads you can do quite a bit of improv with the last two to three keys. I'd say you only need monster polyphony if you play with 8 fingers and high release lol

One thing I like about the Deepmind ( which might have to do with said ' noise floor) is how dirty and punchy it can get when you play it loud through speakers. Does this feel as speedy and funky as a dm12? Like I feel the response of the sound of the Deepmind is really good, like playing an old guitar through an overdriven fender vintage tube amp, vs the boringness of playing a Paul Reed Smith through a solid state amp. Would you say this feels like the forementioned or the latter?

My one gripe with this was that parameter values don’t show on the LCD when you move a knob (as you mentioned). That’s been a small feature I really like on a few other synths I’ve tried (Peak and Minilogue XD). This feels like the kind of thing that would be easy to change in a firmware update though. Any chance you'd be willing to expand on your noise floor issues with the Deepmind? Not sure if you covered it at length in any Deepmind video of yours, but I had two 12D units with significant issues regarding a very high-pitched, electronic noise that was ever present (not USB noise, not related to my own outlets, pretty much troubleshooted every possible cause without opening the units up). Just got a Black Friday Deepmind 12 and I am desperately hoping it doesn't have the same problems, considering it is essentially perfectly designed for my needs. Thanks for all the great content, you're the best 😁

great insight on the continuous OSC ! They do not have triangle wave shape, do you reckon there's a way to get something close (but putting the knob between sine & saw?) thanks

As a format I like the fact that you've done an initial impressions vid. If you wanted to do a deep dive, leaving it a few months for you to get to know the synth, that gives you more space for reflection and you're not rushing things. Sometimes I watch a so called deep dive and it doesn't feel that deep or perhaps that's me? Besides it means you have more content (not sure I like that 'content' word as it sounds more tradesman than artisan) to grow your channel. The Prophet 5/10 is outside my budget but I could see me getting this poly to go with my mono Pro-One and the form factor fits into my bedroom studio. Are they the same knobs as the Mopho, a kind of indicator of the budget end of Sequential? It sounds fabulous, Jorb-dropping if you pardon the awful pun. If there are any deficiencies in the FX department I can always shove it through a Strymon or two I guess. Loving the channel btw and I'm catching up slowly on your back catalog(ue).
@JorbLovesGear2 жыл бұрын
You've got it exactly, I want to know it better before I go full in. I'm not sure if theyre the same knobs, but they feel sturdier than the mopho. Plus I havent had the random parameter jumps i got with the mopho. Cheers, appreciate the backlog watching lol

Awesome demo man, thanks, I'm in love with this kind of sequential sound. I have a Minologue XD that I love very much and I'm thinking to add a Take5 to add a 24db filter and a Sequential mojo to my sound palette. This T5 seems to be very interesting, I worry only about the 5voices of polyphony that aren't not so different from the 4 voices that I have on the ML, a limit that come out only in pad or piano voicing performance. Do you think that a Rev2 can be a solution in terms of sequential sound near to the Take5?
