Happy days, on the Saturday part of the fair ground was known as the Kenilworth show and there were many activities going on, one of them being drinking a yard of ale. But I remember a local councillor called Bob Butler was the compare for many years. He was quite a funny guy and I used to live down the road from him. Then on the Sunday we used to go down to the fair ground after it had packed up and pick up all the spent 22 bullet shells on the ground where the rifle ranges were, in the days when live rounds were allowed. I also worked the car park on the Abbey fields for a few years and charged motorists 20 pence to park for the day. All of this was around 1974 ish so quite a while ago. Just wanted to share a few of my very happy memories growing up in Kenilworth when I was a lad. I emigrated to Australia in 2006 with my family so to see this video really made me smile. Thanks for sharing.
