Plantains, I lived in South Florida for many years before moving back to Australia and they are best fried. Really popular in Miami and throughout the Caribbean. Best recipe I ever had them in was Puerto Rico where they make a dish out of them called Mofongo👍

A little tip for when you’re on your trip. Buy a sealable bucket/drum. Fill it with dirty clothes and add your detergent. Strap it to your 4wd before you drive around for the day exploring. Replace water on your way home for a rinse cycle. Spin dry when back at camp. Enjoy

Platanos! I didn't even know someone in the coast had them. I'll have to visit them. I live up in Mapleton. Plantain is the best. We eat it a lot in Venezuela. Ripe and oven baked are the best. You need a South American to teach you how to cook them. You are almost making me cry cooking them like that. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 When they are ripe you don't need to put honey they are really sweet on their own.
@BigOzExplorers4 жыл бұрын
We were cooking blind and have never even seen them before this location!! We hope to run into someone like yourself who can show us what to do properly... sorry we made you cry 😂😂 they were Still amazing though, we would have them again in a heartbeat 😍🥰❤️

@@BigOzExplorers Let us know with some notice when and if you are back around Mapleton or Yandina so I get some to let them get ripe and bake them for you. I only cried a little bit. Then I got really happy to know there are plantain plants around here. It saves me a drive down to Inala.

@@BigOzExplorers I just thought I should give you a heads up if you liked plantain. There is something called Saba Banana. You can find them frozen in Asian or Indian or Fijian grocers. It is another species of banana. You can put them 6 minutes in a microwave or 25 minutes in an oven. Or wrap them in foil and chuck them in the coals for a little while. They are sweet in flavour and go well with Mozarella, cream cheese or simply buttter. BTW, we are picking up a whole bunch of plantains from Hidden Valley on Monday. Thanks for putting that in the video.

Hi, where did you get the socket for the stabilisers (for an impact driver) Cheers.
@BigOzExplorers4 жыл бұрын
We got that one from tradetools, it’s a 19mm long socket. You can buy online from them and have it shipped if your having trouble or no one nearby has one ☺️ www.tradetools.com/product-range/hand-tools/sockets-and-acc/renegade-industrial-19mm-wheel-nut-socket www.tradetools.com/product-range/hand-tools/sockets-and-acc/force-3-4-std-impact-socket

I only stumbled across your page the other day. I'm so glad I did. Keep up the great work! One question, though... What program do you use for your video editing? I was trying a while ago to do editing for KZbin uploading with the stock GoPro app, but found that it took absolutely forever to upload them once I'd finished editing them.
@BigOzExplorers4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for joining the tribe, hope we continue to keep you entertained 😁 We use Adobe Premiere Pro and used to use iMovie before learning this... some of the stock programs you get can be temperamental and have limited settings to optimise for online uploads etc... Chris has tried using the GoPro phone app and had multiple issues and I found the computer one wasn’t much better... do you run a Mac? Definitely try iMovie! And maybe reduce the footage size if recording with GoPro to 2.7 or 1080p for easier editing, it will save smaller files and load quicker etc etc

Loving the new content! You’ll end up killing your stabilisers if you keep using the impact driver, use a drill instead. Keep up the good work.
@BigOzExplorers4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the advice! We were given this product as it’s a multi use tool and suitable for torque/twisting force rather than drilling! 👍🏻

No drones in any national parks, some councils require permits, if you would like to apply for certain areas
@BigOzExplorers4 жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s such a funny subject depending on the location... we research before we fly each time to make sure we’re not breaking the rules! Main course cerns are heliports and unmanned airports. As long as it’s recreational purposes though, you do not need a permit to use a drone in Queensland's National Parks as long as it weighs under 2kg and there are less than 10 people involved in the film shoot (i.e. the crew) and no buildings or structures being filmed! 🙌🏻😍

Definitely not for market, they are very self sustaining at Hidden Valley growing their own foods and producing their own honey and preserve foods, they were bloody good bananas though 😍
