I just wanted to comment about the BL fetishising take, bc it made me feel so happy when Kenji called out the chatter for the L take. As a gay man, I feel so happy to know that Kenji, even with limited knowledge on BL, still understood that the take was very much not grounded and was false. I thoroughly enjoy the BL genre and while I know some people label the stories as “fetishising” because of the mature themes, I never see people saying the same thing when it is a heterosexual pairing with a similar story. Just because women enjoy it doesn’t make it bad. If people just don’t like it, then that’s fine. Maybe if people don’t want women to read BL, make better stories for the heterosexuals to enjoy. I feel like people should start really looking at the content they are "defending" instead of looking at the most controversial/popular content of that genre- it's 99% of the time not a good representation of the whole genre! There’s one thing I want to adress so I hope kenji sees this comment, BL Manwha,Manhua, and Manga aren’t always just “sexualizing” and “fetishizing” men and the gay community, and nor are they always created by women. - (that’s one thing) There’s hundreds maybe even thousands of different genres and types. There are romance ones with 0 smut (sexual things) that are just pure romance which you can commonly find on webtoon, (there are also anime’s like this, pretty sure sasaki to Miyano is one of them but I never watched it haha) There are also physiological ones such as Lost in the cloud Or Obey me and Killing stalking, however obey me and killing stalking are different since they involve r*pe and ab*se, the authors/creators DO NOT sexualize or fetishizes those type of physiological stories and it’s mainly just the audience and fandom who sexualize it on their own. Majority of the time it is never the creators who sexualize it but the fandom, a similar situation to the anime MHA (my hero academia) Yes it is not a BL anime however the FANDOM used to/still does sexualize all the characters and make illegal ships etc (Trying to prove a point saying that sometimes the Fandom is the problem not the creators😅) However there are some BL’s that are absolutely disgusting such as DARKFALL where there is no plot, and just pure….r*pe and worse. And people who do read BL have acknowledged that yea some people in this Fandom and some Creators are disgusting and enjoy watching,reading,and creating disgusting things that just purely fetishize and sexualize gay men, I won’t sugarcoat or hide or ignore that fact, But my intentions with this comment are to let people know that there are regular, plain, and normal BL’s it’s just that we do have a side to the fandom that’s disgusting and gross and gives people who read BL a bad reputation, however yes BL ISINT for everyone regardless if it’s romance, smut, physiological, whatever! As a gacha content creator, I can say that people in the community are weird but also at the same time so many gacha creators learn how to animate and make amazing art from using gacha, take the amazing devil bona for example she makes amazing art, she has great stories and ideas, and take rozyclozy for example she's basically the mom of gacha she's the one who makes music freaks, it's about a guy who got bullied but he joined a music club and made friends and eventually became a famous musician and it's all voice acted and animated and rozy used gacha, there's this stigma around gacha that a lot of people from outside have even though it's a minor part of the community that is really weird and the gacha community do not claim those people
