The IF Function is probably the most important function you can learn in Excel. So in this video, I've put together 5 examples of how to use it from easy to hard. First, we'll start with a simple IF statement with greater than as the logical test. Then, we'll learn the IFS formula. Third, we'll learn to combine formulas such as the IF AND. Fourth, we'll look at other formulas that use IF such as the SUMIFS or the COUNTIFS. Finally, we'll look at using the wildcard with the SUMIFS formula. After this IF function tutorial on Excel, you should be able to apply the IF formula to any work setting.

I've got a sheet with a column (C) with client ID's (formatted in 'general' and ranging from 1 to 10) and a column (D) with the hours of work i did for them (formatted in 'custom' as: hh:mm). Now I want to create a similar 'dynamic' overview table, like your example with spain and the olives, so that i can simply check my work for a specific client by filling in the client's ID number. I've got my formula like this: =SUMIFS(D3:D18,C3:C18,G3). So it's written exactly the same as the formula at 7:20 min in this video, but without a second criteria (i tried it with a second simple criteria but same result). It just doesn't want to work somehow. EDIT: apparently i needed to set the results cell to exactly the same format (hh:mm) for it to work. This really is a crucial aspect i feel gets left out a lot in these explanation videos. I get that you have to keep focused on the prime topic of the video, but it's such an important thing to overlook for a beginner. Speaking of which, all the examples given here are still rather simple. For me as a beginner it's hard to find mixes between different formats, like time (worked) and currency. 99% of examples on youtube just have simple bare numbers, which seems a lot easier to work with anyway

Have you got a solution for the following, I need excel to calculate the number of hours and minutes between a range of hours, for example, between the hours of 19:00 and 6:00 I get 30 dollars, were from 6:00 to 19:00 my pay is 25 dollars an hour. What formula do I use to calculate the following scenario, I start at 18:00 and finish at 7:00, obviously my penalty hours are 11, and total hours are 13, I need the formula to give me the penalty hours worked within the total hours. Hai sir I am very confused correcting current year in a result. Please help me fixing it. Tutorial says "Dates are stored as numbers in Excel because it allows for easier calculations and comparisons. You can, for example, add or subtract days from a date, or compare two dates to determine which is earlier or later. The number that represents a date is the number of days that have passed since January 1, 1900, when the Excel date system was introduced. The date January 1, 2021, for example, is stored as the number 44197 because it is 44197 days after January 1, 1900." I used all date formats in ms and wps to correct the formula. =(12/2/2024)+30 Ans I get 30-01-1900 Expecting your valuable help to correct this formula.
